I hate to see it come to this but I just cannot support the direction that the con has taken.

I have read the comments and feel like some clarification is needed.
1. This petition isn't about guests being invited or disinvited. It is about mismanagement of the con and consolidation of all decision-making power to a single person.
2. Ugliness does not help your cause, and I am seeing ugliness from dissenters of the petition. Please try to stick to the topic. A few people "in the know" have tried to explain exactly what the petition is about. Hopefully the petition description will be amended to better reflect the concern.
3. Did some of you actually sign the petition just so you could bad-mouth the petition? For real?
4. I have been involved with the con in various capacities, from paying attendee to helping out, and many steps in between. My first time attending this con was when Bodie Olmos was a guest, so it has been a pretty long ride.
5. For the last two years there hasn't been a single guest worth my money to come see. I have come to the con for other reasons and just not bothered with any of the guests.
I won't bother at all next year unless the con changes direction with some positive leadership.
6. I am disgusted by the leaders who cannot act professionally online or in person. This is no way to run an event that is supposed to be fun for the whole family.

I attended ConCarolinas 4 years. Out of those 4 years, I only had fun at one; the other 3 some drama or BS went on that shoulnd’t have happened to begin with. Add to that the Hilton it got moved to from the very large and open Embassy Suites was an idiotic move. That Hilton is small, cramped, and has no traffic flow to the building. As for anything else, I witnessed at lot of jackassery over that 4 years, including almost not being allowed in one year because I supposedly didn’t have proper press credentials.. I do too many events a year to make an effort to go to one that doesn’t make an effort for fans.

This, for me, is not an issue of politics or whomever they might have invited or disinvited. This is a matter of mismanagement and monopoly. The "con com" at last I heard has been reduced to four people, which makes things quite impossible to vote on anything, given the even number of board members, not to mention an unbelievably small number of board members in the first place.
Ultimately, just as THEY did to Ron McClung when they first took over, the same needs to be done to them. So many people leaving both the con com and the guest/panelist list can't be overlooked (or worse, mocked). This con needs better leadership, better attitudes, and a fresh perspective.

ConCarolinas does not wish to grow or develop, regardless of whether we are talking about attendance numbers or the scope of their convention.
When I went this year, I wondered "Where is everyone? Where are the faces that we all know?" And then I realized: They all left.
I cannot support this con unfortunately. Claiming to not take a stand is taking a stand in and of itself, except worse because they won't even take ownership of it.
I'm disappointed that the Con Chair and the head of security openly stated that they had weapons on them throughout the con. This is in direct violation of the rules or both the con and the hotel. They are not above the rules. They are also better than name-calling.
I won't be attending next year, and I will be urging others to not attend as well.

I am in support of CONCAROLINAS and their decision to uphold freedom of association. A gathering of fans has NOTHING to do with politics. If you are so immature that you can't stand next to a person without knowing their political views, then YOU are the ones who don't belong.
Grow up and get thicker skin.

I applaud this con and the direction it is going in. It's about time that someone stood for integrity and fair play and refuse to bow to unfounded allegations and rumors. I have already purchased several registrations for next year and will continue to support a con that does a great job of pulling distinguished genre related guests while providing a safe and fun environment for my family and I.

You don't dis-invite people to be MORE inclusive. Were your parents siblings? Because that right there is some incest level retardation.

Disinviting a guest, for no PROVEN reason or guilt, is dishonorable, disgraceful and inexcusable. Any person who does this should be banned for life from Cons.

I have been attending ConCarolinas since nearly the beginning, and consider this my home con. Sadly, things have gone downhill in recent years. I don't support the decisions made by the current leadership regarding programming, guests, and carrying fire arms against con policy. This is our Con - we the fans make it or break it. I will not attend as long as Jada and Luis are on the con com at all. If they step down, and a good committee of appropriate size (not just their buddies and according to the bylaws) is put into place, I will attend again and encourage others to attend. I'd rather see the end of this con rather than support it continuing as it is.

Current climate of the convention taking a stand to let known harassers in has basically put this convention on my blacklist, and I will make sure my creative friends stay far away until things can be righted.
