Removal of Ineffective Station Commander at Hout Bay SAPS

More could of been done. This is not the only issue people of all colour has had with her. Time she leaves

For those who are not aware, There was rumor of an uprising for 2 am Wednesday morning (Now due to the who got killed) which was going to come through Penzance. I approached SAPS & was advised that I should not have been advised of this as they did not have confirmation. I took a drive around and got to chat to Real Police officers from Metro who were sitting in Penzance Avenue & they advised me that this was actually the case, hence them being there. I went to get them some pies (It was cold) and when I returned there was a much bigger police contingent. The uprising proved to be true (He called me at 2am). Bottom line is that they were more helpful than the Hout Bay SAPS. And they also advised me of the actual chain of command regarding the situation. It is a scary chain of command.

Police take an oath to protect the community, not support rioters...particularly if they get destructive and violent!!!

Totally unacceptable behaviour for someone in authority!

Please do something about this disturbing situation

Please protect all the people in harms way.

People like this station commander does not belong in the SAPS since he/she has no concern for the safety & wellbeing of the community he/she is supposed to be there to protect.

Its a persons right to protest but not to damage property .Law and order must be maintained

A police officer is constitutionally bound to act when asked to do so in protection of citizens who feel endangered. They are expected to be politically neutral. For an accountable high ranking officer to behave like this is unacceptable. She cannot be trusted and must be sanctioned

Disgraceful conduct, safety before politics please

Please replace the police department commander of Houtbay. It is the responsibility of a local police station to serve and protect all in the community. Yet this Houtbay police station prefers to protect the criminal elements.

While i am sympathetic to protesters wanting better homes, their behaviour was horrendous and its shocking that our friends who live in this neighborhood had to evacuate their home and take their children to friends for safety bec ause the Station Commander refused to help and protect them!

She is not doing her job so she must go!

If the Station Commander cannot protect a community - families, the elderly in their most vulnerable moment when it is his duty and he has sworn an oath to do so, then the Station Commander needs to be replaced.

The SAPS is supposed to protect the public from criminal acts and arrest those breaking the law. The Hout Bay station commander has an obligation to apply the law and must be removed as she refused to carry out her mandate

When a mob of rioters attacked properties and vehicles in Penzance on Monday 3 July 2017 the response from police to emergency calls was tardy at best. Police did nothing to stop the looting mob at the petrol station or when the crowd turned into the residential neighborhood, despite several calls for help. The station commander at SAPS Hout Bay needs to be held accountable for her lack of leadership and failure to take effective command of her duties. We call on SAPS to remove and replace the station commander.
