I'm a pensioner left alone to defend my wife autistic child and home. If anyone needs the police it's me! Unacceptable

It is a very sad state of affairs when your local police turn their backs on those in danger.

On Monday 3 Aug a rioting mob came into our road, Van Hoogstraten over turning cars, throwing rocks through home windows and threatening people with weapons. People phoned our local Hout Bay police commander and who refused to send police aid and said the mayor must sort it out. We were horrified and evacuated our home with our 3 girls aged 5, 6, 8, and only returned two days later when we felt safe enough. This is unacceptable and we can not tolerate a station commander who is not willing to protect the public.

Although we all have empathy with the frustration of the IY comunity, The criminal element to the riots should never have been allowed!

Absolutely disgusted and outraged of.the fact that we cannot depend on a station comander /police forse service. How can she be in favour of the mob destroying government , private property and the lives of innocent residents. ??

Monday Morning in Penzance was a terrifying experience made a lot worse knowing that we had no Police protection. There was no Police leadership, no communication from this so called Commander.. She has to be replaced.

We were terrified at seeing only metro and traffic officers, began to think the lack of saps presence was dirty politics which we pray wasn't the case, because, if it was, then all lost for a once proud AS.

We need someone who is committed to making Hout Bay a united village. Clearly telling people to speak to the Mayor or not responding to help cries from various sources, including the rape victim, is not acceptable. She is totally not with the programe here.

Able bodied Police standing around and doing nothing to protect the citizens of Hout Bay. The Police need leaders that can lead

Calling for removal of head of police Hout Bay. NO effective action taken. For three days protest action blocked our roads with fires and metal housing material, chopped down trees, with no immediate intervention allowing it to escalate into riots and mob violence. Our neighbourhood Penzance was ransacked with stoning, house raids, mobs carrying weapons, overturning vehicles, smashing windows, throwing petrol bombs and NO POLICE CAME!!! Even the retirement village in the valley was stoned at the frail care!! We are asking for immediate action to remove the station commander and increase police efficacy in our valley. Enough is enough!!!

At best SAPS are incompetent cowards. At worse more sinister

This valley needs a strong station commander committed to enforcing the rule of law. She is not that.

When lives we're at stake in Penzance and calls of emergency were sent through this person said"speak to your mayor" and sent no police out to protect the rate payers of Penzance. This colonel should be removed from service

On Monday we could hear the sound of protestors moving up Payne street towards our home in Barry street. The sound of broken glass, screaming and cars being overturned. No sirens, no police, no help. We were trapped and knew that we were left to fend for ourselves. We need our police force to protect ALL the people, not stand idly by and hide behind excuses and politics. The station commander's lack of action and interest is a disgrace! We deserve better!!

Appalling response from the police in Hout Bay when I called for help as my home was being attacked by rioters on Monday. I was told that there is nothing that can be done. We feared for our lives and are sorely disappointed at the lack of response from SAPS.
