I strongly OPPOSE the removal or relocation of the John Hunt Morgan statue. I have expressed my opposition to the City Commissioners and to Mayor Battle and the County Commissioners in two separate letters. THIS IS AMERICA and AMERICA HAS A HISTORY AND A HERITAGE ALL FOR WHICH THE CIVIL WAR AND CIVIL WAR VETERANS ARE PART OF. WE "MUST" PROTECT AND PRESERVE OUR AMERICAN HERITAGE AND AMERICAN HISTORY IN IT'S ENTIRETY. GOD BLESS AMERICA.

The Confederate Monuments and memorials have nothing to do with slavery. They were built after the War between the States to show respect and love to our Ancestors for the horror and sacrifices they endured.

The removal of this statue by the city appears to ILLEGAL. Stop making these decisions to remove statues in the dead of night and without public input!

The Confederate Statue, the buildings around the square , in the 3 historic districts, and the graves in Maple Hill Cemetery are all on the National Registry of Historic Places. They are a treasure to our community which add beauty, interest and value. They should not be destroyed by an angry mob of political anarchists.
