XXX City of Oakland: Relocate and House the Manila Avenue encampment

As a long-time Umami Mart shopper, this perspective is sad and disappointing. Umami Mart moved into this neighborhood recently -- the community of unhoused people in question have been living in the neighborhood much longer. The scapegoating homeless folks in the name of community safety and urging their relocation is pretty tone deaf to the forces of gentrification of this neighborhood, and how it contributes to Oakland's housing crisis. :(

just wanted all y'all snitches to know that we're writing down your names from this petition. we know who you are and we won't forget the harm you done.

Please help provide these residents with a safe and healthy place to live.

This has been going on for more than 10 years - it's about time something gets done, as our complaints have gone unheard for 10 years.

These street can refuse going into any housing that has rules. Most of the shelters are not some place these people want to go anyway. Caltrans has its own problems after losing a law suit with the ACLU "Sanchez v Calif DOT"

It’s a dangerous situation. Please do something about it.

If this Homeless encampment (with all the peripheral problems )was on YOUR block this would have been “handled “ a Damn sight faster than Our Neighborhood!!!

As a business owner in the area, I hope that relocation will happen and the community can be safer.

Kaiser DID NOT do what was promised. They need to rectify this situation ASAP

This is located near my business. I no longer drive down this block due to safety concerns.

Please house the homeless in hotels, or at least create a tiny house camp to help the affected people have decent access to medical, and mental help. In the times of PANDEMIC we cannot have people living in these un sanitary conditions. Please find a way to help these people find housing, It is cheaper than letting them remain on the streets.

The loss of long term tenants of the Oakland Masonic Center threatens the use and renting ability of this building. People have become afraid to attend events in the building which threatens an 166 year old institution of Oakland’s history.

Can Cal Trans objections to encampments under bridges and overpasses be challenged as a lesser liability than the toxic waste/ biohazard and safety threat than the Manila ave site?! Bringing porta potties to 3800 block Mania condones the unacceptable. Urging action BEFORE it gets worse. Thanks.
