If the City of OAKLAND does nothing we need to move it to the Gov Newsome desk..Beides loss of our rents and public safety ,health issues it needs to be addressed soon. or it becomes preeminent.

By this petition, the affected property owners on this section of Manila Avenue have put the City of Oakland on notice that legal liability for injury and or property damage resulting from the blockage of the public right of way easement, as defined by the sidewalk and roadway (City Ordinance 12.04.080 & Cal. Streets and Highways Code secs 5510-5618), has been assumed by the City.
We would all like to see the City Attorney’s opinion about that.

This is unacceptable, our private property has been taken away from the property owners. Our sidewalks, which we own are impassable. Moving in portapoties is not acceptable.

Break-ins to my apartment complex have gone up substantially in the last couple months. The city needs to have designated area for this. This is an unfair burden on the folks who live here and struggle to actually pay rent. Interesting that we never see these kinds of encampments tolerated by our city government in more wealthy neighborhoods.

I have had several of the residents of this encampment attempt to engage my customers and staff. One in particular is very aggressive. He screams and spits at people. Recently he showed up and started to scream, threaten and spit at customers and staff, he then started to bang on the restaurant windows and I was forced to barricade myself inside the restaurant. I called the police and was told they could do nothing unless he attacked someone physically. Really?? My garbage enclosure is routinely broken into and garbage strewn about the sidewalk. Most recently my brown garbage toter was stolen. THIS HAS GOT TO STOP!

It's a mess--dangerous and unhealthy for everyone. I live on Shafter and now I steer clear of that block.

This should not have been allowed in the 1st place. It shows that there was no follow up by the City of Oakland or Kaiser to see the planned relocation worked. I guess once they moved the encampment out of Kaisers' sight and off Broadway they lost interest.

They should never of been allowed to set up in the park to begin with, but letting them pitch tents on the sidewalk is worse. Find some dang city-owned spare lots they can turn into junkyards (and live rent-free), and stick them there.

The individuals living here have been caught stealing mail and packages. We have police reports and photographic evidence. They use the water spigot attached to the front of our homes freely, which I actually don't mind, but they don't ask... which makes it stealing. Ideally we find a housing solution that meets their needs – even if that means a safe place for doing drugs, but that safe place shouldn't be our streets, and it shouldn't be funded by our stolen mail.

There were times the encampment residents defecated on the side of our home. We also found one individual with mental health lay on our front porch. My sister had to call the authority.
