Please move the first day of school one day to respect this holiday and let these children celebrate BOTH their holy day AND the first day of school. Don't make them choose.

We are asking for a one time delay. Most Jewish holidays unfortunately are always a choice for these families. They shouldn’t have to choose!

This has been a life-long problem. Proud that you have encouraged Lily to speak up. Love to all!

Push back the start date a day. Now that we can use remote learning on a snow day, it shouldn’t be a large impact to the curriculum to lose a school day.

Please show that we are inclusive of all people by respecting this day for our Jewish EP families.

I agree that all religions should be treated equally.

While I am not Jewish I hold respect for this high holy day and am privileged to always have Christmas off from school without contest. I’m sure it is very hard to adjust an entire district and I don’t take that lightly. Forcing Jewish students to choose between their religion and their first day of school seems to be a contradiction to “inspiring each student every day”.

This is such an important holiday and message to the overall community. Eden Prairie school board - you should know better! Please change your start date - just 1 day!

Eden Prairie's CORE VALUES Below. They need to practice what they preach. Change the start date! Core Values We believe that: Each person has intrinsic value. Each person has individual gifts, interests and talents. Community benefits when each person contributes. Relationships flourish on a foundation of mutual trust and respect. Continuous learning is essential for personal fulfillment, opportunity and success.

It’s a very important Jewish holiday and I think they want to take it into consideration before opening school that day
