Sad that there is still so much ignorance surrounding this topic. This should never have tj even be discussed in the first place.

In a district that supports inclusion and caring about their students, changing the start date to honor the High Holiday is a minor inconvenience at best. Please support the Jewish families in your community by moving the start date to Sept 8 or beyond!

Surely this can be accomplished to support the Jewish residents in our city.

No child should have to make that choice.

The high holy days are so incredibly important. Please show your Jewish students that what matters to them, matters to you as well.

I'm surprised and saddened that this even requires a petition.

This saddens me that this is even needed to be a petition.

First day of school should not fall in such an important day. Would you have school on Christmas?

Religious freedom requires tolerance and respect by all. Please support your Jewish students by making this small change.

Please offer equal respect to all religions in America, allowing for religious minorities to observe their holiest days without a school scheduling conflict. We wouldn’t require people to participate in public school on Christmas. Let’s show the same respect to others.

All faiths should be treated equally and with respect. Please reconsider your decision on this matter.

Please join Minneapolis, Minnetonka, Robbinsdale, St. Louis Park, Edina and several other districts who have aleady adjusted their start dates. You wouldn't start school on Christmas or Easter, please don't start school on one of the holiest days of the Jewish religion and make kids choose between their religion and the important 1st day of school

Respect for all.

This is discrimination. In today’s climate in particular, it is astonishing the school district would overlook this.
