NYC Residents call on NYC Council for Relief from After Hours Construction

I live next to the now completed Whitney museum - for 3 years the work went on 7 days a week along with the drilling for the gas pipeline that now runs under the west village. Development is given a free pass (maybe not free?) to take over neighborhoods and it has to stop.

people are living next to the building a that they are renovating or building! Can't construction companies be considerate?? Would they like to sleep on noise?

Cedar and William and Cedar and Pearl are HORRIBLE at night - I haven't slept soundly since I moved here!

Construction noise from the Chase building at the intersection of William and Cedar after hours kept us up multiple week nights in a row.

Construction noise (William and Cedar) has kept me up at night and goes to 3 am on some weekday nights. This needs to stop.

Constant problem in and around the John Street area.

Late night noise or on the weekend has just become unbearable. Generators are often parked on Exchange place and Broad, creating a huge disturbance for residents of both 15 and 25 Broad St.

I live at 15 Broad St. and at least once a month for 2-5 days we have three large truck size generators placed beneath our windows to warm or cool an event space because the owner won't spend the money to install heating and cooling in the space. These generators are so noisy that we can not sleep at all while they are parked on exchange place. Additionally the construction noise from nearby sites which should end at 6 or 7 pm continues some days until 9 pm again affecting our quality of life with the noise.

The noise at late hours is unacceptable. The noise levels around 15 Broad Street affect all of our quality of life. We are demanding immediate action as rubber stamped permits for all hours is totally unacceptable.

Specifically the construction at 120 Fulton Street often does not end until 9PM.

This noise must stop! It affects health and quality of life and is unnecessary during the hours we have been assaulted by this noise!

I'm fairly certain the site at Greenwich & Albany has a guy who's only job is to drive his bulldozer backwards so there is constant beeping.

Construction noise at all hours of the night, including weekends, is egregious and gravely effects the quietly of life at 15 Broad St.

This is a significant inconvenience and disturbance to our home and community. Please do work at more reasonable hours and in a fashion that's more mindful of the lives of those that make up the communities.

The permissibility of after hours construction leads me to question the motivation, compensation and creditibility of everyone involved in making the decision.

We need recognition that lower Manhattan is a residential community, and the residents need consideration by the city for their well being.

We have enough noise in the city without special privileges for construction. People need to sleep. Enough!

Restricting late night noisy work is LONG OVERDUE!

Stop the weekend and late night noise at 15 Broad!
