It's time to acknowledge that the Financial District is not longer just a business district and all the city's efforts to make it residential must be supported. It makes no sense to issue permits for work in the middle of the night given the population here. Please stop this.

This is a huge quality of life issue for the fastest growing residential neighborhood of NYC. Here's why: NY Post: "The city approved 99 percent of all applications for after-hours construction work last year, a cash cow that generated $25.3 million in application fees in the last fiscal year, 20 percent more than the $21.1 million the city took in the year before." This is a very short-sighted policy for city government to pursue, but it is systemic: on the 311, website, there is not even a category to register complaints against noise like this. So the city is saying, we don't care.

It boggles the mind why demolition work is allowed at night at the foot of 3, 25+ story residential buildings full of families with children. The council should be ashamed that they have not acted to end this or why anyone would allow this type of activity at that hour to be approved in the first place. It defies reason.

This after work variance has caused me sleepless nights and unable to be productive at my work during the next morning. I hope some resolution can be reached to relieve me and the thousands of us living in the city where it is occurring. Help!

I live in Hell's Kitchen, on 52nd street between 10th and 11th ave and I am surrounded by construction which not only has the extended hours construction passes but consistently still works outside those hours as well.

Please stop the construction noise and dust after 4 pm and on weekends. this is a residential area as well as an office are. People live here.

It sounds like a Demolition Derby on Broad Street every night this week. And previously in the past few months all the steel furniture from the building's offices was thrown out and crushed in monster trucks that looked like they came out of the latest Mad Max movie. And before that it was the beepiing of the stupid cranes that went on every time they moved forward, backward, or up and downwhile the man in the bucket filled minute chips in the surface of the Stock Exchange. Give me a break, they are not going to run over any pedestrians in the middle of the night inside the steel fence. Enforce the law, Noise polution is as bad as air polution.

One of the great things about choosing to live downtown was the quiet after hours. What is going on with all the construction in the night and evening? It's unfair.
