The rubber stamping of after hours variance permits by the Department of Buildings and the associated construction noise at all hours is absolutely unacceptable.

The 5am construction noise on William Street 6 days a week often wakes my household up & we don't even face William St - we are about 200 yards away & 5 floors up.

There should be restrictions on heavy drilling and/or any other loud machinery during the nighttime. This happened a few x before and is so unnecessary and annoying. Plan relatively quiet work at night, if needed.

I'm a resident on Fulton street with 3 high rises being built around me. The late night noise is enough to make even someone who loves NYC want to move to the suburbs.

Usage of flood lights should also be directed on the work site as much as possible -- these lights are very bright and frequently are cast on apartments unnecessarily.

There is construction noise, environmental pollution and midnight-6AM horn blowing by construction delivery trucks in Financial District. NYC officials OK with this (so far).

Our apartment faces the back of our building, however, the noise is quite audible from the common area by the elevators. Which means that it must be extremely unsettling for those whose windows overlook the cacophony. Fining the guilty parties alone won't be enough (they have deep enough pockets). Operations need to be limited during week day business hours only.

This area has more residential now then offices so if you want to do construction, do it during the work week only.

We live at 3 Hanover Square. The construction that has been going on in the building right across from our apt (on Beaver) is unacceptable. This is our home, and none of us in the building and neighborhood should have to live with this extremely loud (sometimes unbearably loud) and disruptive late night construction. And now with warmer weather on the way, we'd all like to open our windows - will we be able to? That shouldn't even be a question. This is a residential neighborhood. We should be able to live comfortably in any weather, and certainly at night. The noise is bad enough during the day. No more night time construction!!

The night time construction on the building behind ours (on Beaver St) has been ongoing for at least a year, and perhaps longer. It is loud. Very loud. It is constant. It happens at 2 and 3 in the morning. The workers often yell at each other over the noise. How is this being allowed??? It wakes us up almost every night. It makes it hard to get a good night's sleep. Earlier in the night - and evenings - it's so loud that we have to blast the TV or radio just to hear over the construction noise. It disrupts dinner and conversation. This is a residential neighborhood. We pay a pretty penny for the privilege of living here. We are not paying to live with this insanity. Please stop allowing nighttime construction so we can sleep and live here as comfortably as possible, as is expected in a residential community.

Terrible nuisance to all members of the community - if you want to encourage folks to live in Fidi, especially families with young children, this must end IMMEDIATELY.

Jack hammers at 2AM have to stop. It's kinda crazy given the substantial increase in residential property that this is still a thing.

Please vote to restrict After Hours Variances for construction. The Fidi are is still treated as though no one lives here and yet it is a vibrant residential area. We need our sleep. DH
