The purpose of this petition is to bring awareness to the underserved lymphedema population in Oregon State and implore Oregon Medicaid (HERC) to include pneumatic compression as a covered benefit for their members.

Lymphedema is a long-term chronic condition where extra fluid collects in the tissues causing swelling and results from damage or blockage to the body’s lymphatic system. If lymphedema is inadequately treated, it can lead to irreversible skin changes, fibrosis, recurrent infections, reduced mobility, hospitalization, diminished quality of life, and even mortality. Pneumatic compression has been proven to successfully treat lymphedema and significantly reduce the total cost of care for patients.

By signing this petition you are telling Oregon Medicaid that NOW is the time for them to join the other 45 states that include pneumatic compression therapy as a covered benefit for their Medicaid members who suffer from lymphedema.

As someone who has loved one's who suffer from lymphedema I have seen first hand the life changing benefits of pneumatic compression. My dad can once again fit into his shoes and enjoy a round of golf. He has his life back! Please make this available for Oregon Medicaid members.

These pumps save lives! Please allow Oregon to be one of the states that allow these pumps to help people like me affected by Lymphodema. We need this in order to feel sane so we can still work and live our lives despite the daily challenges we suffer.

Watching my mom struggle every day with Lymphodema, brought a whole new perspective about this long term horrible problem people like her have to deal with. This includes the whole family. Watching my mom suffer, makes me depressed too. These pumps can literally help so many people continue to live life and not have to stop surviving. Helping people with Lymphodema get these pumps won’t only help the person suffering, it will also help the family members around them too. Seeing that your loved ones are getting help is the best thing in the world!

A pump can help to reduce costs for patients in the long run by decreasing the risk for infections and wounds and decreasing the need for follow up PT

All Oregon Medicaid people should be able to access this therapy, just like people with other insurances.

Please allow those patients that suffer from lymphedema the right to use pumps to manage a difficult and progressive disease!

Lymphedema is a chronic and progressive disorder. If untreated will cost health care much more $ with wound care and infection treatments. By treating it, the patient can be healthy.

I have seen first hand how pneumatic compression can improve the quality of life in OR patients. This should be available to all patients who suffer from Lymphedema, regardless of their income. Please help our OR patients get these devices, to better control their chronic condition from home, which will in turn, save the Medicaid programs money, in the long term.
