On August 16th, 2021 an incident occurred in Castle Pines, Colorado involving my dog Rags and one of my neighbors children. Rags is a Plott Hound and Pit Bull mix, in the past he has not shown any aggression towards others as documented from his previous owners, myself and all provided documentation from the shelter from which he was adopted. On August 16th, my mother was taking trash out of our side yard and didn’t realize that he was outside. When the gate opened he began running through the neighborhood and ended up at our neighborhood playground. There were three children at the playground, he approached extremely excited and scared the kids and their parent. According to a witness the children were kicking at him, and allegedly bit one of the children. When my mother arrived the mother of the children was sitting on his head, and the only alleged sustained injuries were on the child who was kicking. He is currently impounded (I personally believe because of his breed, you may form your own opinion) and I will not be able to see him until on or after October 1st. The Douglas County Animal Control do not allow visits, and I am being charged $450 per month for his care (beginning August ending October). I have filled a motion for a Probable Cause Hearing, so that I can prove he is not a menace to society, our neighborhood and provide circumstantial exhibits showing him getting out accidentally will never be a possibility in the future.

I know the family and am sorry that this isolated incident happened and injuries were inflicted .. please be open to hearing the request to permit Rags to be returned to his family conditionally as requested by the owner

The incident sure sounds like it's a one time thing that will not be repeated. Clearly there are plans in place that will prevent a recurrence of anything like that happening again.

Let this dog go please! Any breed would snap if they were being kicked. And yes people need to control their children and teach them how to behave around dogs!!!

This dog doesn’t deserve to be ripped out of his home. Mistakes happen, they fixed the issues to insure the courts he will not get out again. Let this baby live!!!

Rags is one of the sweetest dogs we’ve ever owned & he was a rescue baby! Please help us show him some love, so we can get him back home where he belongs. This was an accident that never should’ve happened & if they euthanize him, I will have to live with this guilt for the rest of my life because I didn’t see him because he snuck out on my left side & I literally didn’t see him because of my vision issues from my stroke.

Please allow this dog out of the pound. Most dogs that we’re being kicked at would defend themselves and he doesn’t deserve to be punished for that.
