Mental health disorders are a disease just like diabetes is a disease and can be treated successfully. A diabetic doesn’t belong in jail and neither do the mentally ill.

This is not what I and the generation of my family members fought for when we served our country. As a disabled Navy Veteran this scares the hell out of me, that if EGLIN VA doesn't get their mental health act together with appointments now by seeing your TeleMedicine Doctor through a monitor and webcam, how many more will die and be arrested and serve most of their life in prison! Do the right thing and release Aaron and get him the help he desperately should have gotten prior to this nightmare!

All of our veterans deserve better than this. I love our police officers, but this was wrong and needs to be made right! I am outraged that our court system would rather inflict vengeance rather than justice!

I was in court for the sentencing hearing only but the evidence reviewed at that time was compelling for me for Aaron to receive medical treatment but not incarceration for the remainder of his fragile life. Justice was Not served in Aaron's case. "Vengence" is what the Asst. DA and the Sheriff were after, and they stated so in court. They were not looking for justice.

Treatment is needed for our vets. No one has been harmed which in itself shows how much restraint this man has going facing what he has to in his own mind.

I know this man, he was a wonderful mentor for my son Christopher. He does not belong in prison. He should be able to receive the care he needs.

I know this young man and I worked in the Mental Health Filed. This is a huge discrepancy and injustice. A trap for the disable. He can be treated and live normal life. He is a great person with lot of potential to be the father his children deserve.

My husband served with Aaron in the air force, in fact they were dear friends. This truly breaks my heart. Aaron has such a kind heart. He deserves to get the help he needs, not punished.

The mental health of Aaron Wanless was not even considered. He was struggling at the time that this happened. He needs help, not jail.
