It is silly to have to deal with the revival of a Christian religious crime from a bygone era in a modern Muslim republic like Pakistan. It is a fake legislation, whose juridical merit is argued by Islamic jurisprudence, which has, so far, since its reintroduction by General Zia-ul Huq in 1982, triggered religious outrage, violence, and extra judicial killings by the thousands in Pakistan.
Here in Bangladesh, we must be cautious. The Jamaat/BNP factions in our Law Courts could be encouraged to create legal twists that emulate Pakistan Penal Code, Section 295-C.
