Urge the Sub-Executive of United Church, Toronto Conference to reject the recommendations of the Conference Interview Committee Re: Gretta Vosper

Gretta speaks for me. Keep her in the church.

It matters to explore and listen beyond the word "atheist" to hear what Rev. Gretta is actually saying. Not being a theist is not at all the same as rejecting the mystery we call God.

I am fully supportive of Greta's writings and have found her a great help in the development of my understanding of God and the faith.

The theological conversation Gretta Vosper has provoked is a matter for dialogue and not a matter for discipline.

I have found inspiration in the writings of Gretta Vosper. She is a much-needed voice in the church.

I am a minister of the United Church of Canada as well. I am ashamed of the way that Gretta has been treated. Gretta, in my opinion, is pioneering a very needed change in order for our church to be relevant. I'm with her.

There is hope that Christianity will continue to grow beyond outdated traditions and interpretations.

Sad ruling

Thank you Gretta for continuing to grow and share so others on their journey can also find places and ideas that can expand and find new places and meaning for them.

I left the UCC when the UCC left my town and now find a home in another local church. At heart I still believe the basic tenets of the UCC including our responsibility to keep moving our faith I to the modern era. I have read all of Greta's books. She has much from which we can learn. I do hope she continued use to use her voice for progress.

I see alot of commenters here saying that you'll be praying for her to remain. To whom are you praying to?

You call yourselves 'Christian' and yet you are doing and saying very 'non-Christian' things. Judge not, that ye be not judged (Matthew 7:1-3).

How has the credibility of the Church been enhanced through this process? How has Gretna been pastorally supported?

Shame on the hierarchy of the United Church of Canada. Their actions are an insult to past and present members who pray that the church will outlast such attacks on our unity.

I am in full agreement with this.

Gretta is often quoted and her prayers and other liturgical contributions add greatly to our own worship and Sunday Gatherings. Many in our congregation are chagrinned at the action taken by the Church, and are hopeful that it is not yet too late to make amends in reversing this foolish action.

Maybe the people of the Hebrew language were wise in not pronouncing 'yhwh'--too much of a holy mystery to say out loud; fearing the meaning might be diminished. Too often we glibly say 'God' and miss the holy mystery behind the energy, love and spirit of the evolving universe story. I am disheartened by the lack of biblical insight and courage by those on the committee who passed this motion about Gretta.
