Urge the Sub-Executive of United Church, Toronto Conference to reject the recommendations of the Conference Interview Committee Re: Gretta Vosper

I have met Gretta, heard her speak, and read her books. I can't imagine a more intelligent, spiritual, caring person or minister. If I had a Getta Vosper at our church - I would start attending church again. Surely it is pretty clear from attendance that the United Church must change or die - Folks like Gretta Vosper embody what that change could look like. Anyone feeling she should not be part of a progressive church like the United Church Of Canada have their heads in the sand.

Very Courageous Woman!

I am very saddened to read how many of you totally disregard what the Bible says about who God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit is. Agreeing with Gretta puts all of you in the same boat as what non bekievrs and atheist say. Truly for Pastors at the any church to say and belive this breaks my heart. Please God have mercy and bring all of them back to the words of Jesus Himself: John 14:6 Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me. 7 If you had really known me, you would know who my Father is. From now on, you do know him and have seen him!” YES AND JESUS HAS TAUGHT US MUCH MORE, IF YOU READ YOUR BIBLE

My United Church has room for Gretta Vosper. She has an important role to play in our furture.

We heartily endorse the work that Gretta and her congregation have been doing at Westhill, and think it is a vital component of the mission of the United Church.

Joy, hope and generosity is in us all and to discipline what we all know is true is not love.

I returned to the church after many years because it is a place to explore spirituality, to grow and, most important, ask questions.

I am saddened by this decision; while it may seem appropriate, how many more decisive processes must we go through. How do we reach out to those who question and do not want a 'pat answer' when we inquire. Gretta is saying publically what many believe and will not ask for fear of becoming yet one more target.

We need more discussion about our God/love language and a fair process,

This petition is so thoughtfully worded and carefully thought through that it is an honour to sign it. The United Church, if it is to move ahead into new times, must be able to hear voices that express non-traditional views with openness and no prejudice. We need people like Greta Vosper.

United in LOVE is above, united in ideology/doctrine.

I have not always agreed with everything that Gretta Vosper has said or written - but the United Church that I love and have always admired has been open, kind and fearless. This action against her exhibits none of those things. If this kind of examination and judgement is upheld then I worry that other progressive ministers - like myself - will also be subjected to a similar "witch hunt" . We are a compassionate and tolerant church - let us show it.

Vosper = simple intellectual honesty

I would return to the UCC if my local church espoused the humanist beliefs of this insightful and courageous minister.

The behaviour she promotes is what matters, not whether she believes in the supernatural

I was just looking for a no God church to take my family (husband, and three children 12,11, and 4) to in the Toronto area. I stumbled on this story. I am devastated to think of the implications of division due to belief. I would love to share a Sunday service with my family without the God, Christ, and Holy Spirit mythology to confuse our experience of transcendence and connectedness.

As a life-long member of the UCC, I am amazed at the inability of the UCC to admit and acknowledge that a significant portion of its adherents and members do not attend church because of a belief in God, but rather because or outreach or social reasons.
