We are a nation of law and order. Anyone who entered this country illegally has committed a crime and is therefore not welcome to stay here, let alone add to our already-strained social and economic infrastructure.

I agree with many of the other comments. We have a right to know who is in our country. Nonenforcement of immigration laws encourages bad actors to exploit loopholes, leading to a higher proportion of dangerous immigrants. I believe our immigration system needs to be reformed to make it easier for those people who truly want to work hard and make better lives for themselves and their families to come here legally. This is a small city with a short supply of both jobs and housing. Suicidal empathy is not the answer.

Along with the general comments of the petition, there are also our own homeless Flagstaff residents who ARE citizens. The City has a duty to aid these most vulnerable people before extending a hand to foreigners. You cannot offer our city as a sanctuary of you cannot help our own homeless citizens first.

Addendum...Ms. Putzova needs to be the one to move out of Flagstaff to some other war zone of a sanctuary city!

This would increase crime and put a strain on our already inadequate resources for the people who actually live here and pay taxes to this town.

Have they not seen what happens to sanctuary cities?
Also, the U.S. Attorney General will sue the city and any officials who interfere with ICE

I had to call the law on a homeless man from Haiti , he had broke into my backyard and was sleeping in my wood shed. We found him 2 days in a row. The police finally arrested him! I live in University Heights!

Immigrants are the lifeblood of this country. The melting pot is one of the things that makes America great. My parents also immigrated into the country under asylum at one point. However, we have legal avenues to immigration and rules need to be followed. Without holding illegal immigrants accountable, the message will not be sent that you must enter and stay within this country legally. While I do not condone all of the recent actions of this administration and ICE, the last thing the Flagstaff community should want is to become the next "Sanctuary City". Cost of living is already astronomically high and we have various resource related issues, crime, housing, and homeless issues in play. It is a tragedy that good, hard working families will be deported, but the word must get out that we uphold our strict border rules. We don't need to intentionally aid ICE as an community, but we also shouldn't stand in there way or attract more homelessness, crime, and cost of living issues to an community plagued with serious ongoing problems.
We should not make this city one
