Reject Paradigm's Proposal for the Davies Property!

The congestion of the Davies project by Paradigm coupled with the new development that is already taking place will lead to a tremendous amount of congestion. The congestion will cause property values to decline and the decline will eventually result in a substantial loss of revenue. The attractiveness of "Old Town" will also decline as the charm of old neighborhoods get lost due to overcrowding. I hope all concerned residents of Fairfax City will come to a consensus on this rather obvious result.

I adamantly opposed the Paradigm proposal for all of the reasons stated. I truly believe it disrupts the feel to Old Town Fairfax, City Hall, and will increase the traffic all around the City. The traffic along University, Armstrong and 123 will only get worse. The City is already loosing it community feel and this will only make it worse.

I am against the Paradigm proposal for the Davies property and agree with all of the reasons my fellow neighbors have stated. Personally, I felt patronized at the two Paradigm meetings. Surely, there are other developers who can invest in the Davies property that would complement and/or enhance the existing properties and the quality of life in historic Fairfax City. And, they would make a profit. Paradigm's suggestion that we support "the known" - Paradigm - rather than an "alternative" was insulting. I would hope our City council members support their known constituency rather than a transitional population who have no long term interests in historic Fairfax city.

I agree with your points Karen, "I cannot more strongly ask you to continue to put the long-term interests of the residents of this City over the short-term (and shortsighted) gains that this proposal may seem to provide by disapproving this and any future proposal for the development of the Davies' property as rental housing. In the long-term, this project will put an extremely costly burden on the city to support in terms of infrastructure and the numerous increased public services that would be necessary," The government of this City should not be veiled by short-term gain and shortsighted view. The unpredictable cost/burden to public services will be increased. The hidden and unforeseen cost to the government are exactly what I worry about. In turn, the increased cost might be put upon residents of the city in some ways.

I am a resident in Courthouse Square. With the existing major traffic congestion problem in the intersection of University Drive and Main Street in Old Town Fairfax, how can this project not make the problem worse and become a disaster when the traffic volume increased by the high density apartments? It is a very irresponsible act to plug this apartment buildings with additional heavy traffic volume in Old Town Fairfax, which was not design for this addition. This is my major reason of rejecting this proposal. Many other problems are ignored either unintentionally or intentionally by the parties involved in this project.

I am against this development for the reasons given. I have lived in Fairfax city for the past 21 years and love the old town feel. They want a community on this property then then need to consider townhomes or condos that don't exceed 100 units in the space.

Not sure the infrastructure can cope with such an intrusion.

The only folks to benefit the Davies project are the Davies heirs and Paradigm. There is no saving grace to this project - it brings a high density to an area and small city that goes totally against this type of development. It is blazingly apparent that none of the Davies nor the Paradigm people live anywhaere close to Fairfax City - so they have absolutely no feel for what makes this a very special place to live.

This project is way out of line with the ideals and best interests of Fairfax City community. I strongly oppose this project at all levels. Chancery Square resident for 16 years.

This apartment building will destroy any progress Fairfax City has made in the past ten years. It will bring in a transient population that will have zero regard for the public safety, environmental health, and long-term development of this beautiful community.

We moved here because of the small town historic character of Fairfax City and neighbors who take pride in home ownership. This complex does not belong here. Act on behalf of the citizens who live here and vote for you. Reject the Paradigm proposal!

There is nothing about this so called "luxury, high-end" residential apartment building that is in the best interest for the current residents.

This project is appalling.

This project does not belong in the neighborhood or fits the style of the landscape. OX Road can not handle the current traffic nor the additional cars intended. This will open the door for future projects that will destroy the small town feel of the area.
