Reject the Proposed Lime Ridge Open Space FLOW Trails

Build somewhere else. The open space is a valuable part of our community. Not all land is for the taking. I object to any development project proposed.

The Lime Ridge Flow Trail proposed by the City of Walnut Creek is an advanced bike trail designed to maximize the downhill thrill ride and minimize braking. The City has called it a “Multi-use trail” which is disingenuous and misleading. Bikers will not want to brake to give right-of-way to hikers, horses and cattle (which they are required to do by law on a Multi-use trail). Cattle have been allowed to graze this portion of Lime Ridge for over 20 years for fire mitigation on these hillsides close to homes. Building the Flow Trail will require the removal of the cattle, increasing the risk of fire coming closer to homes in the area. The proposed Flow Trail is only “Phase 1” and is meant to be a proof of concept for Phases 2, 3 and 4 which will extend this bike-park-style, thrill ride trail all the way across to Concord and affect ever-expanding portions of the Lime Ridge Open Space. Lime Ridge Open Space will become a destination recreational bike park for biker groups from all over the East Bay and beyond. I don’t believe this is good stewardship of the land that was bought by Walnut Creek taxpayers and dedicated as a natural preserve for animals and wildlife.

I believe in preserving the open space as it is originally intended. The bikers are up there riding in the evenings - you can see them with their lights up there - they are already breaking rules. A bad precursor of what’s to come. Protect the open space.

Where is the public comment and plan exhibit set up...and for how long will that be open to the public?

I strongly oppose the Bike Flow Trail. Currently it has become increasing Dangerous to ride my horse, because of the speed the Mountain Bikers travel at. They scare the horses and increase the probability of injury to all.

Tired of bikes on single track trails. There is not enough trail rule enforcement now. This would only make things worse.

I live just below Lime Ridge and am extremely concerned about fire dangers, dangerous biker interface with current uses, and the negative impact on the ridge as an ecosystem. Bikers are a huge problem for pedestrians on the canal trail and local streets - isn’t that enough?

There are enough paved paths for bikers all through Walnut Creek. The open space needs to be kept open and preserved as intended.

Keep Open Space for hikers and animals, not vehicles (that includes bikes). Please don't override the intent of the citizens when the Open Space was purchased by the tax payers.

Open space use should not degrade public property.

Ban bikes!!! Lime Ridge Open Space should be reserved as a natural habitat for animals to live in. Hikers and strolling horse riders should be allowed , on properly marked trails. More security persons should be employed to enforce the rules. Lime Ridge Open Space should provide a peaceful place to enjoy nature. If you want a thrilling bike ride go elsewhere.

I live close by and we already have too much traffic on trails. Cars parked along the side of road already

Please do not further load this section of Lime Ridge. These actions increase risks of medical emergencies and fire danger in an area with limited emergency services access, infringes on residential privacy, and further impacts parking congestion on Arbolado Drive. Thank you

Too many bikers who feel they own the trials make hiking really dangerous.

Thanks for this petition. I'm an old guy but I hike these trails often and am quite &$&#& tired of dodging bikes racing down the hill. Keep bikes and pedestrians away from each other! This should apply to all trails - pedestrians have the right of way, not bikes. Can't even walk my dog without getting almost hit by bikes along Contra Costa trail too. #$&$$

Protect our lands and ecosystem! Please do not create this proposed trail.

No bike trail!

The flow trail will not solve moountain biking problem, it will make it worse with more riders chargeing across the hillside

Please reign in the overbuilding of our town and our open space.
