Reject HB 1263 NH Hostile Homeschool Bill

It should be our right to chose our children's educations;homeschool or public!

I am an adult that was homeschooled until I graduated high school. I have successfully graduated college with honors, and am currently working with state certification in the field in which I earned my degree. I find the introduction of HB 1263 to be a step toward the out-law of homeschooling. This is disgraceful and unnecessary, as many homeschoolers that may not do well in a traditional school setting may thrive with homeschool curriculum.

This is an abuse of power it is my right as a parent not the government right.

Vote no on HB 1263.

This bill must not pass!

I honestly and whole heartedly feel that a "burden" of such restraint placed into Bill for Homeschooling will in fact be a disgrace to us Homeschooling Families whom came so far,so strong to avoid the ordeal in the first place. If in fact there are any who have done wrong/harmful to any children in any way may they be informed,helped and directed as needed for the educational well being of the children. However any negative and or neglect behaviors of anyone in Homeschooling should NOT be reflected onto ALL of Homeschooling. It is NOT to be considered a fault of us all. We strive to be the best Homeschooling families we can for what works best with our children learning and thriving educational as well as emotionally into good people. Thank You.

Homeschooling parents care very much about education and their children and want they very best for their children we don’t need this bill

Please oppose this bill. This bill hands over the right to make decisions regarding our children's education.

I am strongly opposed to this legislation. My wife and I both hold advanced degrees and have worked in highly technical fields. We have chosen to homeschool for both educational reasons and our opposition to many of the things that are taught in public schools at way too early an age. Our daughter is doing extremely well as a homeschool student, performing at least one to two grades above her age level in every subject. She makes friends easily, and participates extensively in extracurricular activies, including music, dance, and skiing. Homeschooling is working for our family and our daughter, and our five years of experience as home school parents makes us well suited to comment about this legislation. Parents home school their children for a variety of reasons. It's really all over the map. Some pursue a child directed education, whereas others use a stringent curriculum, taking great pains to construct a curriculum from multiple sources that works well for their child. Some are very religious, while others are wholly secular in their beliefs. The bottom line is that people pursue a home schooling approach based on their intimate knowledge of their child, and what works best for the child. They know their child better than any outside evaluator possibly can, and care infinitely more about the well being of their child. An outside evaluator may be able to offer useful insights, but these should be offered as friendly assistance, not under the threat of a law that can be used to remove the child from the parent's rightful educational domain. The public school system is substandard; we all know this to be the case. International test comparisons prove it, and an examination of the Common Core standards and current textbooks in the lower grades reveal many of the reasons. To give this system dominion over home school families when they cannot effectively manage their own school system would be a travesty and must not happen. Just who is this legislation seek

Please leave the current law as it is. This is overreach on the part of our state government. Homeschooled children are given more 1 on 1 than in public schools and they are just as disciplined in their studies, if not more.

Homeschooling has had an incrediblely positive impact on our family. It has enabled us to live as a cohesive family unit due to the highly irregular schedule my father’s job requires.

do not have this bill. this will make it impossible to homeschool and that is unfair. going to school has gaps, students learn diff. some mature later. if they want to do this rwvamp school to tailor to our kids learning styles

In my opinion, this is a blatant government overreach of parental rights, asserting that the State, not the parents, have authority over our children's education. This power over an entire community of educators, wielded by the biased person, not only has the potential to threaten the entire homeschool community, but it creates an opportunity to weaponize their political beliefs arbitrarily. The results of this effort would effectively oppress and threaten both parents and children in addition to providing undue burdens on home educators and the State. Does not the burden rest on those who oppose us and would take our freedoms away to prove us undeserving of our freedoms, rather than the opposite? An educated person need look no further than our standardized testing results to dispel this assertion, as homeschoolers far exceed the performance of our public school counterparts. The results speak for themselves. I assert that the motivation behind this legislation is more sinister and at its core is not to simply unduly restrict us, but to force these students into the public school programs and domain and the indoctrination they provide merely as a means to increase the state funding.

Equality in the standards across the board or no new laws!

I am strongly against this bill!

I feel incredibly strongly about my children's education and I believe this bill will make it harder, if not impossible for me to provide my son access to the best possible education.

We are successfully home schooling two boys and reject this attack on our freedom to do so without government interference.
