Reject HB 1263 NH Hostile Homeschool Bill

We love the current relationship we have with our local school and district. We know they are there for us to utilize as a resource in our home education program and have received nothing by support. The current NH home educstion laws are what prompted us to move to this "Live Free or Die" state. We love the trust and freedom we have here to educate our children the way they learn best.

Let’s continue to be the “Live Free or Die” State. Not a nanny State.

These restrictions are unreasonable and without cause! Home school children overall perform better in standardized testing. The average home schooled child performs better in college than government schooled children. The average home schooled child gets a higher paying job and is more successful than the average government schooled child. This is an infringement of our rights. End this now!

Keep the government out of our homes. Our kids consistently score higher on standardized testing than government schools. Government schooling is failing the public, why would you start failing home schools too!? Stay far away!

This bill is a excellent example of zeal without knowledge and of running blindly from one evil straight into the arms of tyranny. The education of children is deeply ethical in nature and if you care about human dignity you must seriously consider some fundamental questions: Who possesses the right to educate a child? Who is sovereign to set the standards for eduction? What will be taught, emphasized, valued, avoided, ignored, or disdained? What areas of the child’s life will be developed? When will things be taught, where, and how will they be taught, and by whom and with whom? What worldview assumptions will undergird this education? What is the ideal toward which we are aiming? Who is sovereign to decide these basic and all important issues of education? Whose right and responsibility is it to shape and mold and lead a child toward robust maturity? What is maturity? The United States has recognized that parents alone possess the authority to define and determine the parameters for the education/upbringing of their children. Any other answer to this question is tyranny. Do children belong to the State? Or has God entrusted them to parents? Will NH say to the parents of this state with Adolf Hitler: “your child belongs to us already... what are you? ...in a short time they will know nothing else but this new community...” That same ‘educator’ went on to say: “This new Reich will give its youth to no one, but will itself take youth and give to youth its own eduction and its own upbringing.” The heart breaking reality is that some parents do neglect their children and some do abuse them (so do some educators by the way) - and where there is demonstrable evidence of this crime the state does and should have authority to intervene - thank God for a government that does its job and does it well. We say NO, THANK YOU to this bill.

Vote for school choice. It doesn't make sense to punish children by forcing them in underperforming underachieving schools by people who don't know their children or don't like the standards set by the children's parents. Vote liberty,vote freedom, and vote common sense.

If you place the same restrictions on public school during this bill, like age appropriate regulations and if not, then the school can be placed on probation, then fine. Otherwise, this is just a terrible underhanded tactic to force homeschoolers into the public school system because there are no clearly defined age appropriate guidelines for public or home schools, so please vote NO on HB 1263.

We strongly oppose this bill! We are our children's parents, not the government and know our children best. We work very hard to give them a great education and are already held to a high standerd. This would only further goverment interference and would hold homeschoolers to a stricter standerd then public school.

Please governing body, realize if you are going to raise the standard for home school children, then the public school system should be held to that same high standard. We pulled our kids out of the Barnstead Elementary Middle school because they were failing 3 out of every 4 years on tbe state standard test. Later they joined their peers in high school. We have lost the standards of excellence and the meaning of teaching in our state will it ever become the goal to raise the bar for others to model again or do we want the status quo.

What happened to "Live Free or Die?" I love living in New Hampshire, but I am completely opposed to this bill as it severely hinders my freedom as a parent to choose what is best for my child's education and well being. I urge you to VOTE NO on HB 1263.

‘the government is a greedy piglet that suckles on a taxpayer’s teet until they have sore, chapped nipples’ Seriously, there are so many conflicts of interest and instances providing for gross government over reach in this bill, it should die without a second thought. I understand wanting to protect kids, but trying to do so without understanding the kids setting is just obnoxious and dangerous. We have sufficient laws of assessment and standardized testing

Please vote no on this bill, homeschooling families should not be held to far stricter standards than NH schools.
