Do not pass this intrusive bill, that takes away rights of parents to educate their children the way they deem best. Government needs to get out of the business of education! Period.

Terrible bill! I was homeschooled from kindergarten to 12th grade, and I treasure my Christian education. Whenever I get married, I plan to homeschool my own children. If we let this invasive bill pass, it will not be long before more follow, and our homeschooling rights will be taken away completely before we know it.

My grandchildren's education at their homes is stellar; their parents do not need more state intrusion into the process. Please vote down this bill!

I may not be perfect in teaching our children - but I certainly know what they ARE learning - and more importantly - what they're NOT. Who sets the "age appropriate" learning levels? Can my 5 year old test at a 3rd grade reading level, while my 10 year old struggles at a 4th grade level - and a legislator is going to determine my "ability" to teach? I don't think so. I know I'm supposed to be mild and respectful in "requesting" my representatives to vote against HB 1263 - but it's not a request - vote against it. It's bad politics and a sad attempt at legislation.

Allowing the state, or "official" to determine whether my child is performing at a level they arbitrarily determine to be acceptable, not even a condition required for any other public or private school, isn't going to happen. Given the fact our local PUBLIC school, with a $6 MILLION budget is not able to achieve proficiency above 25% in math, and 50% in English - we'll leave the state before we allow legislators to determine our ability to teach (our God given right and responsibility) our children at home.

Please allow us parents to continue teaching our children the skills and morality that is the duty of all parents and was never meant to be full responsibility of any institution or government agency!

Please support homeschoolers. Do not allow this bill to pass. Homeschooling parents need our support, not more red tape and hoops to jump through. Do not undermine our role as parent and educators. We desire to raise our children to be well rounded mature adults that will contribute to society someday.
