Please stop legislating educational activities and standards for home-schools that the public schools are not required to perform or to achieve.

We have homeschooled for years now and have only seen wonderful results for our children and a growth of connections within the homeschooling community. Early on in the homeschooling process we had more state oversight which seemed to be burdensome for the public school system. The public school officials in Concord did not seem to have the time, resources or interest to oversee us at the time, and they often failed to even do their part of the oversight in a timely or correct manner. Requiring more oversight would simply overburden the public schools again with no advantage to anyone. This is a time for deregulation not re-regulation. Legislators should celebrate and leave alone what’s working (homeschooling, which is thriving in educating children!) and focus on what’s not working with the education of New Hampshire’s children.

My husband and I are in our sixth year of homeschooling our son and we feel that allowing the government to have any say and control in determining the standards of our son's education is counter to our philosophy of education and how we feel it should be based on the individual learner's interests and understanding. We don't know the eventual route a child's life will take in regards to what it is that they need to learn based on their interests. To suppose that all children should know the same things based on a standardized governmental mandate is not taking the individual learning process of the child into consideration.
This bill should be defeated.

Homeschoolers are involved, engaged parents who are passionate about their children's education. They want to do the best for their children and do not need government intervention to make them do this. This bill would just add more work and stress to homeschoolers whose time is better used educating their children.

The only reason I don’t homeschool my 3 children is that I’m the breadwinner. Public schools are only making a stronger case for homeschooling. Many of the public school teachers are incapable of writing proper English. And the math curriculum: you should be ashamed if you had any part in financing that choice.
