Fix traffic, exits out of Ladner before you ask tourists to sit in this mess and make the residents wait.

This is a ridiculous thing to put in the village core. Not only will it not fit the heritage feel of our tiny village, but it also does not add any affordable housing to a town that desperately needs it.

A hotel is not needed in the village! Ladner isn't a tourist area other than the market days. If people are coming to Ladner, they are coming to see someone that they can likely stay with. The Village (and all of Ladner, to be frank) is losing its small-town charm and this is just adding to that. Use the money to upgrade infrastructure in the town to accommodate for all the new housing that is being squished into town.

City should stay in their lane.
Tax dollars should not be used to by land for hotels.

Keep Ladner the way it is; a peaceful and quiet village that is not a tourist attraction.

My thoughts on a hotel:
I doubt a SMALL boutique hotel would be viable in Ladner
Everything closes down by about 8 pm n ladner, except for the Legion
Travellers are always looking for good value and a boutique hotel implies expensive room rates.
The hospitality industry has still not recovered from COVID.
Hotel occupancy is very unpredictable.
Steveston has struggled with its overly ambitious waterfront plan.
Yes to a waterfront boardwalk, with appropriate vendors.
Pedestrian only areas near harbour.
Better access to the water.
A busy Ladner Market day gives you the feel of what ladner village will become, nose to tail traffic crawling along all the small roads looking for parking.
Create a Park N Ride at Patterson Park.

I ABSOLUTELY AGREE with each and every point made on this petition!!
I feel a great deal of dread about the troubling proposed changes to our Village. Developments, such as this outlandish proposal to put a ?!hotel??!, will ensure that our Village will no longer BE a “village “. Where would you put the PARKING!!? FYI, we are at sea level. So, where would the cars go? If visitors want to come here, they can stay at the casino.

I do NOT want to see a tourist hotel in the downtown core of Ladner.
Nor a 6 storey building!!!
Time to listen to the people of our town.

I agree revitalizing this part of Ladner is a good idea, but only if it’s ‘better’ than what is currently planned.
I really don’t want a hotel in Ladner… I want more public space to be enjoyed by everyone, and something that will attract tourists.
The boardwalk in Steveston and The Shipyards in North
Van both could be improved upon, but are excellent examples.
Shipyards and also Harmony Arts Festival have many days every summer with the best of Vancouver music groups, all free. That should definitely happen here.
Maybe Delta could buy Speeds and Sharkeys and replace them with a long public boardwalk with new restaurants and pubs, etc.
(no chain restaurants allowed! lol)
Speeds and Sharkeys should be given first crack at renting space on a new boardwalk if that were to be built… And some financial incentive like 20% off rent for 10 years.
And maybe a small theatre for live music and theater. Or at least a professional stage for regular event programming.
Delta rarely offers high-quality, well-known music acts playing for free…. our neighbouring cities constantly do this … for example the Burnaby Blues and Roots Festival. Now free for the second year in a row. This year the famous Mavis Staples is headlining. For free!
Similar free concerts take place all around us… North Van, West Van, White Rock, and Richmond are more examples.
We can do better! :-)
Yes, no hotel, please.

Why is Delta Council intent on destroying the last unspoiled part of greater Vancouver? Why is Council working for developers, not residents?

This idea, and the planning behind it is poor enough it merits a full letter.
