Crime is out of control in S Africa. Prisoners are draining the already stretched fiscus . The death penalty for certain crimes that are particularly heinous is absolutely necessary. Bring the death penalty back. We can't ignore glaring crime statistics and the notorious impression foreigners have of S Africa

A limited reinstatement of the death penalty could be applied only to the most severe crimes, under strict legal safeguards. To ensure transparency and reflect the will of the people, a public jury system should be included, allowing ordinary citizens to take part in deciding such serious matters.
