Deputy Ashley and Hershey have worked and trained together for many years and are certainly an asset within our communities. Please reinstate the K-9 Unit to its full capacity. We need Hershey!

We have a huge growing drug problem in our county, and this program is a huge asset for helping to work with this problem.

Do not cut the K-9 program! Cut something else. Preferably dollars ermarked towards benefits for the msny non-productive members of our local communities.

I have had the pleasure of meeting Hershey. He is a wonderful dog and deserves to keep his job. Without him our community will not be the same.

K9's are an essential asset to a police agency. NYDEC Police closest K9 in Herkimer County. State Police have one, Border Patrol have one. This county is the Largest in the state. Lost person(s) in our vast wilderness areas, Drug Traffic from Colleges, Border proximity, and Low income population density. Manhunt potential from concentrations of Jails/Prisons, just to name a few justifications. A K9 is a part of a police force as is their patrol cars, duty belts, and uniforms. It is a tool, represents command presence, and is an excellent public outreach tool as well. To put the K9 out of service is a disservice to the communities of Saint Lawrence County.

K-9 Officers instinctively protect fellow officers, without hesitation. That's more than an asset to any department.

A K-9 Unit is a huge asset to any department. It would be detrimental to the department to get rid of him.
