The Doug Ellis Sports Centre has recently cancelled the short term memberships. These memberships were earlier touted as the memberships students will love but have now been replaced by the 9 month & 12 month memberships, which do provide a deal by saving money but are NOT FEASIBLE & FRIENDLY for the students. 

Students who come over to the UK for a year's course do not buy items or services for the entire year. For e.g. we don't buy toothpastes of 12 boxes all at once just because they are cheaper. The short term memberships were easy on pocket & it was easy for the students to join when they wanted to & hence benefit from the gym's facilities. A Sports Centre by the University should not only be easy on the pocket but also flexible because a majority of the customers are students who are not always cash loaded. We students have specific budgets & have to plan out things according to that. Especially the International Students who come on a tight budget. 

At the same time there have been no significant improvements in the gym facilities. At this time which is the peak time, the gym is crowded with little or less space for individual workout on specific days. By signing this petition we all would like the Management & Authority of the Doug Ellis Sports Centre to reconsider their decision & reinstate the short term memberships or provide any other viable solution so that the students can benefit from the University's sports centre.
