Working into your 60s as a DCD teacher is ridiculous. Our bodies will be unable to handle the job inturn putting kids at risk of injuries and ill-prepared educational opportunities.

The job of education has become a full time year round job that has to be one of the most stressful there is. We are losing too many young teachers already not to mention our profession is no longer attracting the best and brightest students. This would be a small step in addressing those concerns.

Rule of 90 is a great way to encourage veteran teachers to retire so younger teachers can be hired, saving money for the schools. I missed the original Rule of 90 by 5 days. Bring it back!

Bringing back the Rule of 90 will help assure teachers have the opportunity to retire when they feel ready to leave the classroom. Our students deserve the best and brightest teachers, and allowing teachers the opportunity to leave if they feel the timing is right, even if it is before the age of 66 is a win-win for all involved.

I have worked for 25 years, in various teaching capacities, and am 50 years old. With a number of health conditions, it is very likely that I will have to cash out my TRA in order to retire and be able to pay for insurance.
