Reinstate the Rule of 90 or Its Equivalent

Please reinstate this. Teaching is becoming more and more stressful.

Teachers are overworked and tired, especially after the added stress of the pandemic. Reinstate the Rule of 90 for Minnesota teachers. Make MN competitive with states who have an earlier retirement age with full pension. We are facing a teacher shortage. Reinstating the Rule of 90 would make MN more appealing.

Bring back the rule of 90. Teaching is too demanding to teach until age 66. Teachers should receive full benefits retiring at age 58 like most states.

I would even entertain the RULE of 92 or 94 - This would STILL allow me to retire before I am a candle burns out. I don't want to be a little flame on a wick at the bottom with little to no wax.

Teacher burnout is a real deal and we have young people not going into education due to that and the fact that they are looking at 66 as a retirement age.

Teachers are burnt out from the stressors of Covid 19 and the learning gap it has left in its wake. We love what we do but can’t do it forever! Bring back the Rule of 90!

Teacher pensions are far less generous than many think. In other states I would be retired by now with far more generous benefits. Please restore them to at least as good as past Minnesota teachers used to have!

We need to get the Rule of 90 back in place immediately . We are struggling to fill positions in schools and need an incentive for people to enter the teaching world as early as possible. We also need a way to thank those of us who entered the education field right out of college and stuck with it...especially since Covid!

TRA has been stabilized and the Rule of 90 or even 95 must be brought back to provide the education our students need.

I am an elementary principal and wow, the workload in my position has changed drastically in the past two years. My husband and I talked about him retiring before me by about 4 years due to me missing rule of 90 (he's in another profession). But recently, we've been discussing that I don't think I can make it until age 66 due to this increased stress, mental health issues with students and staff, and all of the increases to the job. I have been working in public education in MN since the fall of 1991 but worked out of state two years before that, so I miss the current rule of 90

I started teaching in the fall of 1989. Because of 2 months I need to teach 8 more years to receive full benefits.

As a spouse to a teacher this absolutely needs to be reinstated.

I agree to reinstate rule of 90, but not just for teachers for all government employees / Public Utilities.

This is long over due. I like most of us have given 100 percent of my time to my school and community teaching, coaching, volunteering etc. for the past 30 years. I cannot retire until my late 60s to make the numbers work. If I can make room for younger staff I certainly will by retiring earlier. Also current trends are concerning and I think perhaps a younger person may be better suited to fight what’s coming. At least I hope so.

We need to support our teachers, especially in these difficult times. We need to encourage young people to get into this profession as well.

Bring it back ASAP! Not sure why it ever left!
