Reinstate the Rule of 90 or Its Equivalent

Please reinstate the rule of 90!

Reinstating the Rule of 90 would allow long-time committed teachers to fully enjoy their well-deserved retirements while enticing vital new teachers to join the profession. Please reinstate the Rule of 90 in Minnesota.

I'm a teacher in my 30s and I'm already considering other jobs I will do outside of edu action because I don't think I'll be able to continue being an educator until I'm in my mid 60's. Bringing back the rule of 90 would make it more manageable to be a lifelong educator in a public school.

I cannot be effective teaching middle school students if I am not feeling young and spry.

It is TIME. Teaching is just as stressful as an air traffic controller or a police officer. Honor those witha 30 year career. No one can or should have to perform the duties of teaching for forty yrs. who even wants me teaching when I am 65?

It makes so much sense to bring back the rule of 90.

Teaching is a physically and mentally demanding occupation. After working for 25-30 years, many teachers are too tired to do as effective job as they want. They are ready to hand over the reigns to a younger, more energetic teacher. If they are given the opportunity to do this through the Rule of 90, it will allow schools to maintain a updated and relevant staff. The new teachers will have the energy and the newest ideas to help students achieve high results. Therefore, I respectfully request your support for a re-instated Rule of 90. This is a tough job. As it is the younger ones don't stay long. Those of us who have been teaching for years can't do it all and we need to know we can leave when we feel we need to, before we are way too burned out.

The exhaustion is real! I am currently 45. I have done this job for 20 years. I work in a school with 97% free/reduced school, 70% of my school is ELL and there are an incredible amount of students with mental health needs. I have worked all 20 years in this type of school. This year is my hardest. From the student who throws things when frustrated to the child who has so much anxiety about school to the child who goes home by themselves as their parent works the night shift. HELP teachers. I offer my classroom to anyone who thinks the exhaustion is not real. Come do my job for 1 week and see how you do.
