I took Hapkido with Master Augsburger in my final year at NIU. It was an invaluable experience not just for physical fitness, but helping me deal with the stresses of school and my anxiety. I have nothing but praise for Master Augsburger, and I am disappointed to see that the martial arts classes have apparently been canceled. It is deeply disappointing to me as an alumna to see such an important class for various individuals, especially young women, that was available so easily for these students to now be denied to them. Please reconsider your stance. I ask for myself and for all the others who just desire to better themselves at NIU.

This is an important part of NIU that continuously fails to get the recognition it deserves by faculty and administration alike. I proudly support this martial arts program and it's devoted instructors.

This course is taught by a master and give valuable lessons in defense. It's taken by all sizes of people, men and woman, and is a wonderful class. It's for beginner students and a great class for college.

Are you kidding me NIU!??! This class is a must to remain! I was in the club for my entire college career and even came back to Dekalb to participate in activities. This is a great "organic" way to keep Alumni active with a part of the University.

I owe a lot to this program. It has helped me cope with my stress and my ptsd. Many students rely on these classes to learn how to defend themselves...Study of the Martial Arts builds character, confidence and competence, and it truly can save lives. The excellent staff at NIU has allowed individuals like myself to channel our frustrations and aggressions in a safe, productive environment. Professors such as 8th degree black belt Grand Master Augsburger provide consistently excellent training and cheerful, selfless service to the student body, and certainly perform an invaluable service to the community. Please do not allow these vital resources to go to waste. Let's show NIU how much we all appreciate this program. most sincerely, Damien the Beveroth z1662163 Student at Northern Illinois University

Enough of taking away the Martial arts program under Grandmaster Michael Augsburger. This program greatly enriches the students in Mind and Body. As well as a indepth knowledge of Korean Culture. You don't know what a valuable resource you have with Grandmaster Augsburger. What a waste NIU!!
