I'm outraged at this! Please reinstate her at once and show that you can be open to the possibility that new research can lead to changed guidelines -- it's the only way scientific knowledge has ever made progress. It's attitudes like yours that keep people getting fatter, sicker and more diabetic every day.

The WIC Program especially is promoting out-dated information. More and more children are developing diabetes due to high-sugar diets, and the WIC Program continues to recommend low-fat diets, which almost always lead to an increase in sugar consumption. We need people on the panel who will look at recent research and be willing to admit when what we thought was healthy is proven otherwise!
