Stewartville gymnastics has positively impacted me in so many ways! It would be truly sad to see it go. I participated in community ed for years, and then was on the high school team. I even coach some community ed classes now. I have experienced and seen firsthand how much gymnastics means to kids. It would be a disservice to the kids in Stewartville to take away access to a local gymnastics program.

I am a 2021 graduate from Chatfield who competed with Stewartville for my high school gymnastics career. I came from a bad environment in my old gym, and this program honestly saved me. I know it will continue to impact the lives of those who join.

Please consider to continue gymnastics in your school. Gymnastics helps young women develop coordination, flexibility, & strength. It offers skills socially, including, communication, friendships, & teamwork. lt requires discipline, mental toughness, & determination. Most important of sll, character is built through gymnastics shaping our youth to succeed in life.

It is like a family to most of those girls and they feel like they belong to something special.

Stewartville school athletics as well as community ed will be negatively impacted by this decision. There is constantly a waiting list for community ed gymnastics classes for years. If these families are not given this opportunity in town they will take it elsewhere. This will also likely lead some to continue into middle school and high school following the program they started in say Rochester. That money for not only the program costs, but other expenses that could be going into our community will be spent where they find a new program. As a parent of a dancer/ cheerleader it is sad to think that without notice one of our varsity programs could be cut without giving parents and students an opportunity to plan, fundraise, or come up with a plan with the school.

There are so many consequential benefits to team athletics. Critical skills not learned in normal academics. Things like overcoming fears, setting and attaining goals, camaraderie, healthy competition, pushing yourself beyond your known limits. Please reinstate this program.

Stewartville hasn’t given the gymnastics program equipment or focus in nearly 40 years. To cancel is for generations to come is heart breaking. There are so many young men and women in our community who want gymnastics. Sign up on community ed is quick. I understand we need coaches and players on a school age level.

Gymnastics is such an important part of growth in adolescents! Entire families benefit from what these girls learn and how they approach life! It's a critical option for all and maybe the only one that they will get. Please consider reinstating the program!
