ok i don't know all the circumstances of this mess. and i don't know how you could get the toothpaste back in the tube now - could the kids actually play on the team after all this? seems like some communication didn't happen before tryoouts, during tryouts and after tryouts. makes me wonder what extra-cirricula sports are trying to teach now a-days. seems a lot of leasons NOT being taught, missed opportunities... what a shame

This is absolutely ridiculous. Coach Hecker should be cut from the team, not the seniors. Favoritism has always been key to southeastern. It's all name game, and if your last name isn't or has never been known for a long period of time, and you do very minimal to no sports, you are a nothing in that town. It's sad that such a small town has to downgrade their basketball team, I apologize to you two seniors... & Im sorry southeastern will never change its ways..

Character matters much more in life. Ask any boss you meet. I would take an employee with a willing attitude and character over a super skilled employee who cannot be taught, any day.

These young men deserve to be restated to the southeastern basketball program and the weak minded coach fired and never permitted to coach again so he won't do it to another individual

Southeastern sports are not based on last names. Kids have worked hard to establish themselves in Southeastern sports programs. Southeastern has a very competitive basketball program, that's what happens when you have been successful. The size of a school has nothing to do with sports. The coach made a decision, there's nothing that can be done about it now. Sports are played in hopes of winning. You have fun winning. Winning comes first.

It hurts so much to watch so many children continue to be plagued by inconsiderate coaches and a athletic director who by many opinions is incompetent. Something needs to change at this high school.

I graduated Southeastern high school in 1992 class size of 57. Southeastern high school was a better school then, than what it is now. I'm referring to quality. They used to have a varsity basketball team, and reserve basketball team, and a freshman basketball team. Why isn't it the same? There seems to be adequate students interested in playing, but cannot play because of the way the school is set up for the basketball teams. There were a lot of boys cut from their basketball program and this is ridiculous. It's just a school sport. It's for fun. It's to teach the players how to play as a TEAM. Not every player is born with talent, some have to work hard to learn the Talent and it can be learned. Hire coaches to take the time to teach the boys how to play with proper sportsmanship. I love this community and that's why I'm here. It's not because of the school.
