Sara Cobb was fired because she held everyone accountable for the cats’ welfare and as well as their actions, for example why some cats were euthanized out of the blue. It seems as if Chicago Animal Care & Control (CACC) is more interested in rescuing and adopting out the young and healthy. In short, taking the easy way out. Very sad.
To quote part of the original post which brought this situation to my attention;
"…She calls the supervisor on duty the night your stray hold is up. She begs to give you just one more day. Please, just don’t let him die tonight. His fate may all change tomorrow, she has hope for you, it will only take one person. She has hope someone will take a chance on you and tomorrow you will get rescued".
Instead of the "squeaky wheel getting the grease" in this situation, it got the axe. As we all know government agencies hate to be held accountable. Since Sara was a volunteer there was no possible repercussion they needed to worry about for improper dismissal, that is until now.
Thank you for signing the petition. Let me assure you there was no harm to any animals by the hand of Sara Cobb or any other members of the Transfer Team who are all incidentally volunteers. I will be posting clarification on the Facebook page as to why she was dismissed to avoid any confusion.

The amazing volunteers at CACC work tirelessly to save as many cats and dogs as they possibly can. I have worked with them for over 2 years. As you may have forgotten they do this for FREE! They work themselves to the bone trying to save lives. I understand that I do not have 1st hand knowledge of what occurred but I think an explanation to those supporters like myself would be more than appropriate for relieving a volunteer. Please email me at [email protected]. Sara Cobb has helped save lives! I attended a workshop 2 yrs ago at CACC and you appear to not be any closer to your no-kill philosophy and then you let precious volunteers "go" - the ones that are working so hard to save them? Something doesn't make sense to me. And as a supporter I would like a personal email as to the reasoning for letting a huge advocate go.

Sara has been nothing but helpful in my experience working with her at CACC. Maybe you don't agree on everything but keeping on volunteers with a variety if view points makes for a healthier organization. Thank you.
