I am a PhD student with extensive experience in distance learning. Online instruction requires specialized preparation and an approach entirely unique from traditional lectures. Many instructors across many institutions were woefully unprepared to transition to online instruction as a result of universities delaying their COVID-19 response. The University’s shortcomings should not create further long-lasting negative effects for students. As responsible educators who value student mental health and long-term success, you need to reinstate your pass/fail option for Fall 2020. Failing to do so shows bad faith on behalf of the University and an unwillingness to extend the same understanding to students that you have asked students to extend to you.

I am a concerned parent. My freshman son is struggling with the online process. Please reinstate pass/fail.

Classes are unfair due to the fact we can’t go in person fully. This makes them harder and the students cannot fully comprehend the coursework due to this.

Online learning is not the same. And giving me 100 assignments in each class does not make up for the lost academic time. Pass Fail Needs to be an option

it's definitely better for students now since there's so many things going on and when things get back to normal we will go to the old grading system. currently learning is not as efficient as before.
thanks for your time
