My daughter Erica Loznicka had her as a teacher and always spoke very highly of her. Erica took education very serious and appreciated that she cared so much about her students education.

It takes a lot of patience to teach teenagers. Enough said.

So sad. Even 20 years ago when I was teaching at Southern Vance if we had written a student up for saying something like this we would have been laughed at. The first thing we would have been asked is if we followed all protocol before we wrote the student up. Sounds to me she never even got a warning. This is absolutely ridiculous with what we have going on in Vance County Schools today. More and more good students are leaving to go to other schools. This is so discouraging to those of us that are trying to give vance county schools a chance. We have much bigger issues that need to be addressed. Our high schools have lost too many good teachers and I sure hope we do NOT lose Sandra Wiggins! My son is a freshman at Northern Vance and I am so pleased to say he has had great teachers this year and I sure would hate to see them leave. They face so much disrespect every day. Many of them are yelled at and cussed at on a daily basis and those students do not get suspended. Dr. Jackson please do your homework and learn what our teachers need and deserve or we will lose more and more really good teachers. Please show more respect and support to your teachers and our schools will thrive.

As if teachers were not going through enough these days, we get to look forward to nonsense like this? Unbelievable.

Students anymore do not have any consequences for their behavior. She did not say anything towards anyone with cruelty or malicious behavior. It was simply a wrong choice of words. A male would have nothiy sasid at all.

Never had her as a teacher but everyone of my classmates that did only had positive things to say about her. Maybe she was just trying to speak to the student on the level at which they comprehend. The school system should be more app to hold the students and parents accountable not the teachers especially the good ones.

The students at Southern Vance have spoken. They recognize the irrationality of what has occurred and have expressed concern. Kudos to them for speaking out about it in this way. Since the 5 days has likely passed, the action should be vacated from her record and apologies made. Make this right!

Surely the school board can do better than this. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

This suspension is absolutely crazy. Quite possibly not the best choice of words, but it was not directed at anyone. Big difference.

After being sexually harassed and made to feel unsafe by a male gym teacher at Northern Vance High School and the response by the school was to take me out of the class and put me in the library for that period, but not punish the teacher I'm a little shocked that they went this far over a word commonly used in everyday language. Great job on the moral standards Vance County! In case you lack the education required to interpret the emphasis and meaning of that last sentence, it was sarcasm.
