Bring her back Vance County schools needs great teachers

Sandra is one of the best teachers and is dearly loved by her students and friends.

I find it appalling that VCS would suspend one of its best teachers for saying the word "ass" when there is far worse said by students every single day. I remember how critical those final weeks were prior to the AP exam. These students are being punished more than Mrs. Wiggins. You are doing them a great disservice. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

Mrs. Wiggins is one of the best teachers left out at Southern Vance, she is down to earth and making her lessons fun to learn. Now, you have other teachers out at Southern Vance that will cuss you out and do not care but she "ass" an get suspended. But I can get deeper than teachers cussing out students, you had teachers out there having sex with the students, What happen to them?

She was the greatest teacher I ever had, and she impacted my life greatly.

This is ridiculous.! If the case of her saying that one word got her suspended from her job then 3 of my teachers should be suspended as well.!

This is what is wrong with Vance County Schools! Disrespecting teachers is so common today;however,one expects elected leaders to do the right thing! We will remember how you humiliated a wonderful,caring teacher come Election Day. Jesus even gave his disciples a second chance.

Mrs. Wiggins was an amazing teacher when I had her 9 years ago. She is passionate and loves her students!

So let me get this straight----Mrs. Wiggins is being suspended for 5 days for using the word ass? Obviously the Superintendent has never walked the halls of SVHS or NVHS. EVER! Because I have and the language and the behaviors and activities that are not only displayed by students but ALLOWED by students is absolutely appalling. If those student activities were addressed, banned AND enforced then you would have grounds for this perhaps. Meanwhile EVERY SINGLE DAY teachers are subjected to verbal and often physical abuse by their students. You're lucky to have ANY teachers at all, never mind excellent teachers such as Mrs. Wiggins. Get her back as quickly as you can, get rid of the student problems and get Vance County where it needs to be. Try that for a change!

Not being a student from the Vance County School system, I can't say how wonderful she is however from the previous comments, I can tell she's a great teacher. On the flip side however, we as adults have to lead by example. If this had been a student being reported, they would have been suspended as well. True...most students get away with a lot but we have to start somewhere. I'm sure this was a terrible mistake the teacher made but she must reap what she has sown. If you allow "ass" to "slide by" then before you know it, other foul words will follow and there will be no control on the situation. God bless the teachers and the students.

Please! Is this really any worse than what is said every day by students and staff?? And what was the reason for this? Someone might need to explore that!!!

This is ludicrous. Students say things to teachers(much worse) and I don't believe they get suspended. True......she shouldn't have used that term, but she has the same disease as the rest of us........she's human. I understand now why my daughter stopped teaching.

VCS needs more educators like Mrs. Wiggins. Her language should be an absolute non issue. This is a prime example of missing the forest through the trees and Vance County education can't afford any mistakes at this point.

You got to be kidding me. Ms. Allen was very nice in school and she don't deserve to be treated like that. Reinstate her soon.

She is and will always be a great teacher, she stood her ground despite all the mess she has to deal with.
