Ms. Wiggins is an amazing teacher. I am sure if they suspended every student that said a curse word the school would be empty.

I had the pleasure of meeting. Mrs Wiggins this year she is a wonderful lady very passionate teacher always looking for ways to guide students in the right direction letting them know that they have a chance in life with education. With all of the things that go in schools yall wasted yall time with this. But ignore parents that have came to u with more severe issues that needed to be addressed Smh .. She needs to go back to work and prepare kids for their exams but i guess Vcs don't care about the students being too upset to test they just want to make an example out of a Great teacher... To whomever the parent was that reported this did you stop to think of anyone else besides yourself because you could've spoke with mrs Wiggins and settled this without going further smh .. Teachers give up alot to teach our kids daily for the little pay they get and with her she truly cares for the students not the pay check. Mrs Wiggins God will work this out keep your head up

I agree with the students. Mrs. Wiggins is a great teacher and other teachers have said worse. So if she wasn't calling the student a "a**" then it was no reason for her to be punished that way. Students are hurt and they are losing time to learn and prepare.

I agree Wiggins is a good kind hearted FAIR teacher and this punishment does not fit the crime reinstate her immediately

It's wrong for suspending her for 5 days for saying such a careless word when some students at the school say language that's way worse... Therefore I feel it should be dropped and let her come back..

This is to far gone.. as teachers they are also human.. and are entitled simple errors.. as this clearly was.. there's far to much that needs to be addressed in the school system ,far more ruthless than a teacher slipping the A word in a sentence.. she's a good teacher and caring spirit. ..

That word is no worse than what the students say .. The students say F words and do a lot more she does not deserve this cause nobody is perfect accidents happen... I support her 100 %

We all love Wiggins, she guienely cares about every person that walks through her door student of hers or just a student that attends SVHS. As a senior at southern I've heard far much worst than "ass" from teachers!

It is absolutely ridiculous to dock her students five days of instruction for such a minor infraction. Also, it is not consistent with past disciplinary actions.

As a fellow educator, I agree this punishment is way too harsh.

We have a lot more things that need attention in Vance County schools more than a teacher saying the word ass. The students say and hear worse things everyday. How about let's worry that a great teacher is being taken out or her room away from kids two weeks before their final. But this is what you get when you have incompetent people in charge. Good Luck to the kids that have had valuable class time stolen from them.

This is ridiculous! We can't get rid of the teachers that shouldn't be teaching, and don't even slap the wrist of students that cuss profusely in halls and classrooms, but we ban one of the best teachers in the county for this small infraction?!? And let's not even think of what's best for the students, especially the ones that have an AP test coming up that will miss critical review over the 5 day suspension!! I was hoping things were making a turn for the better??

It shows the level of respect that any person who would give 20+ years of service to a school system is so quickly looked at as a liability. While I don't agree with the language, I don't see that the punishment fits the crime. Losing her would be a tremendous detriment to the VCSS.
