Dr. Bridgford was an inspiration to me during my time in the English M.A. program, and the center and conference were among the top reasons that I chose West Chester to pursue my degree. Both seemed to demonstrate a commitment to the writing community on the part of the administration that evidently did not exist. I cannot imagine a more suitable candidate than Kim Bridgford for the position, and unless she was removed for being over-qualified and pursuing other endeavors, she should be reinstated before the year is out.

It is a shame to let go of someone who is valued, and demoralizes the community. Is that what you want? Please pay attention to this call.

Kim is a terrific poet, editor (I speak from experience) and organizer. I've been hoping to get to the next conference to meet her in person to thank her for her work. Please reinstate her!

The work Kim Bridgford has done as Director of the WCU Poetry Center and Conference, as editor of Mezzo Cammin, and founder of the Women's Poetry Timeline is exactly the kind of leadership that is needed in the world of arts and literature to bring all kinds of writers to the table. I hope she will be reinstated as Director of the Poetry Center. Sincerely, Wendy Vardaman, Poet Laureate, Madison, Wisconsin

It seems to me that at the very least there should have been a publicnotice of how she failed to meet the objectives of the Poetry Center/Conference. Behind closed doors decisions do nothing to enhance the image of your group.

I am deeply saddened by the sudden dismissal of Kim Bridgford and the subsequent cancellation of the 2015 conference. Its loss is irreplaceable and the reputations of the College and the Conference have clearly been damaged.

In Kim's hands, the WCU Poetry Conference has become a unique and important event on the current literary scene.

Kim Bridgford should be reinstated as WCU Poetry Center. When such a person is able to bring acclaim to a university by her inclusionary program development, she needs to be promoted not dismissed. Consider the goals of any higher education institution - to expand horizons.
