Reinstate Frank DiGiacomo as Head Coach of Chatham Swimming

You’re not looking good. Time to rethink this unacceptable decision!

I believe the attendance policy issues to be institutional and not the coach. The school should take a look at the sport and work with the coach to institute a policy that is fair and works for the kids who put forth the effort as part of the team. Club swimmers should get exceptions since they out in 10 - 20 hours of practice a week. Non club swimmers should have to attend practices if they are to earn letters. All who do this should get Gym exemptions. Up to now the policy has been too vague. School and coach should work through a policy that works. Not fire the coach. The school is to blame for living with a broken policy.

Coach D was a great Coach to ALL of his swimmers!! The reason for his dismissal is unconvincing at best.

This is upsetting news. I would like to hear more about the reasons behind this decision.

Reading between the lines is this a battle between HS and USA swimming and he is just caught in the middle? I find this conflict again and again in NJ HS swimming. Maybe, just maybe...this is an institutional problem and NOT the coaches fault. The rules are set up to benefit no one and create conflict for all parties involved and it asks the coaches make ridiculous demands on their athletes and athletes to choose between their commitments to programs. I really, really don't understand why we cannot solve this problem. Moving NJ HS swimming to the fall would probably a great start and lessen the conflict for everyone involved.

As high school coach starting my 25th year at my current position 30th year overall...Coach D is what high school swimming is all about.

Coach D has coached my kids at CBCC and is awesome!!!

Please reinstate Coach D. He’s such a great coach and really cares about the kids!

Coach D is one of the best my daughters have ever worked with. He cares about his swimmers and the sport.

I know many kids who have swam for him. Never heard a derogatory comment. The kids loved swimming for him.

NO ONE should be terminated without warnings.

Finally, a coach who allows for kids to participate in swimming to the highest degree. This is rediculous.

I was lucky enough to be Coach Ds assistant. I got to say, he his the best coach I ever coached with. I have coached club swimming, summer swimming, high school swimming and college swimming and I never met a coach who cares about every single athlete on his team as he does. You will find Coach D just as excited for a new swimmer doing a personal best as he will be equally excited for a swimmer winning MOC!!! He truly is one of a kind and the modern day Vince Lombardi of HS swimming!! I wish him the best of luck.

After watching Frank coach practices and meets I can say he is one of the most passionate coa he's I have seen. He cares about his athletes. Coming from the poolside he was also a wonderful person to work with.

It is blessing to have a coach who understands the difficulties that club swimmers face trying to balance both club and high school practices. I applaud

Unsatisfactory response from the school. This is absolutely not a reason to terminate a coach, it's a reason to reevaluate the rules.
