Peace I been knowing Bertal Washington over 30 plus years. He has always been an upstanding, honest and trustworthy guy. Chief Washington needs to be reinstated immediately!

There appears to be no legitimate
unbiased reason for this reassignment. Chief Washington to my knowledge has done an EXCELLENT job and involves himself with the community. Chief Washington has invested in this community by purchasing a home, enrolling his children in Pasadena schools etc. The City Manager on the other hand has NEVER made such an investment or commitment in the 17 years that he has worked for this City. Do what is Fair and reinstate the Fire Chief immediately!

Mayor Tornek and City Manager Mermell conspired to remove the fire chief. They did this in an effort to make it appear that CM Victor Gordo was responsible. The Mayor's true intention was to pander to the black voters and say he supported the Chief, but by the city charter, it was the City Managers decision.
Shame on the Black Vanguard running around town telling flat out lies that Gordo had anything to with Chief Washington being removed. These same black elders have and believe Tornek would reward their financial interest with Tornek were elected to a second term. Tornek is on record saying he "...felt the the process was handled as best as it could have been."
Both Tornek and Mermell did this in the most evil way to try and save their jobs and remain in power. Mermell should resign and Tornek would drop out of the runoff. Men that would go to extreme of ruining a man career for political gain are not worthy of being our Mayor and City Manager.
