I am not part of this institution, but this sounds extremely dubious and the university hierarchy need to account for this decision. If they are unable to, this colleague must be reinstated.

TU victimisation needs to be fought at all cost. Unscrupulous management will continue to use this as a tool to undermine and penalise unions as long as we let them get away with it.
