Mike has been an awesome addition to our Legion baseball team, before him we never really knew when anything was or how they were doing. I know he put forth the same energy to the JV team as well, we had the pleasure of hosting them for bowling many times when Mike just wanted to do something special for them. In my opinion the wrong coach was let go.

As an umpire who works a couple of Mike's games every year. He has always respected umpires and instilled that respect in the boy under his leadership.

Mike is a well rounded person and a fundamental coach that gets the most out of his players. This decision to replace coach Fitzgerald should be revisited and reversed.

I think that firing coach is a big mistake. I watch the games he is coaching and see a great deal of respect the kids have for him. and he also finds ways to win games. I have been coaching little league baseball for 17 years now and if you let some parents or even some players bad mouth the coach that is only normal. You can not please everyone and I don't even try to. The man is well respected and I feel he should keep his job

I think it is absurd that coach Fitzgerald was fired!! He has shown nothing but dedication and devotion to the game and the players in his time as coach, not to mention the winning that has become far too rare for men' sports at the Upper Perk!!

Mike is a man who gives his all to what he believes in. He believes in his team. He encourages them to give 100%, just as he does. If one person can't handle how well Mike does his job, then that person needs to try self-reflection. The kids, as well as his family and friends, love Mike and look up to him.

As a former coach myself and a father of 2 athletes (baseball players) I think this is a travesty !!!!!!!! I have never met someone that GIVES SO MUCH, and CARES SO MUCH about his players and the game of Baseball !!!! He teaches not only skill at the game but also teamwork, respect , discipline and many other things that help our children not only become great athletes but GOOD young men too.. To me thats IMPORTANT !!!!! I sure wish he was coaching when my oldest son played ... and am still looking forward to my youngest son being coached by him. Whoever made this decision, wow did you make a BIG mistake..

Coach Fitzgerald has contributed so much of his life and time to the kids he coaches. My son is in sports and I have been exposed to a lot of coaches and coaching style, Mike gives so much to his kids( yes I said 'his' because that is what he considers them, extensions of his own family). The time and dedication goes above and beyond and he should continue to be this schools coach.

Coach Fitzgerald provides excellent leadership and mentorship to players he always puts the players first. It is a travesty that one mans dislike for him gets him wrongfully terminated. It is all politics . Fight for Mike

Coach Fitzgerald is the only real coach these kids have seen. He plays to win, doesn't play favorites, knows how to coach and wants to promote these boys to bigger and better things. Give him his job back!!!

I do not know Coach Fitzgerald personally, but what I have seen over the past 2 years is commitment and love for his game. It is clear that he understands the game of baseball and what it takes to be a winning team. He has positioned a talented team to win games.. I have also noticed his no nonsense attitude and belief for respect. A positive attitude and respect is helping these young men grow with the understanding that playing a team sport requires hard work and an open mind that they still have much to learn. I believe this job takes much time and effort on and off the field. I believe he has what it takes.

I played for coach fitz for my whole high school career and he showed the most heart for the game and the most support for the kids and the program that a coach in UP has seen in a long time, huge mistake
