Since she has left 40 something dogs have been killed and I was told they were going to kill 100 more. They have rescues and I thought the Brookhaven Animal Shelter was a no kill shelter!!!

The way we treat animals is a reflection of our society. Killing innocent animals because circumstances have rendered them homeless is barbaric. This is not the will of the people of Brookhaven Town, Suffolk County or NYS. Please hire a director that represents the compassion of the people. The killing must stop immediately.

This shelter has come such a long way--we should be the model for other shelters in our region. Competent leadership is not easy to come by. Please reinstate Ashley---she has made Brookhaven Animal Shelter a safe haven that advocates for its occupants. Why should these animals, who have not chosen to be there, be put to death for no reason at all????

NO Town Hall should EVER dictate the care of animals in a municipal shelter! That should be left to people who know what they're doing. Reinstate Ashley Behrens.
