Your inmates get clean, and get out and have NOTHING to go to....then start the cycle all over again....Come on? REALLY? Get this place opened up, help PEOPLE!!! While most will say "not in our backyard!" In regards to having a drug addiction/rehab center i have to say better this than those who literally may be in the shadows of your yard shooting up. I have seen down many a dark alleys here in this small "city" of Martinsburg WV needles from users and a bunch of other toxic waste that should not be left behind. Occasionally there's even the lifeless body of the user to be stumbled upon. This my friends is a travesty that our community should change with warm arms and every tool and tactic we may have. We all know the saying, " it takes a village to raise a child" but like it or not for a healthy, safe and profitable place to raise a child it takes wise, caring and loving people to be a village worth raising a child in. When a village is not safe, healthy and profitable for all then the village is not worthy to exist. To throw out another well known saying "A chain is only as strong as its weakest link." The closest state "detox" is 3 hours away from Martinsburg. This makes it virtually impossible for an addict at their bottom to make it there. To top it off they only have 10 beds and do not detox you from heroine ( the reason for the quotation marks). This facility is desperately needed.

This is so desperately needed in our area. So many people I know including myself have fallen into the arms of the devil. There are 6 month plus waiting list to be able to enter a suboxone program. People who really want the help will now be able to receive this. This will save so many lives. I hope that our community invites this rehab center with open arms. Just think your children could be the next victim.

Also, I've seen a lot of friends get clean and sober BUT most of them moved AWAY to do so. How is that good for our community? Send away all the recovering addicts who go on to become productive people in society while we continue to have people struggling in addiction. Addicts who walk our streets prostituting, "bumming" for money or worse robbing people or OUR businesses in our community.

The fact that people are in opposition to a rehabilitation facility makes no sense. The problem does not resolve itself, as we well know. Oh, to live in a world without substance abuse, depression, poverty, war, hunger...The solution starts here. A wise person once said, if you can make a difference in one person's life, then that is enough! It is far better to do something than to stand around and do nothing or stand in the way of others who might do something. This is what Berkeley County, the Eastern Panhandle needs. There is such a stigma surrounding drug addiction but it can happen to anyone, especially with folks who receive prescription painkillers and become addicted that way. The faces of addicts include teens, adults, mothers, fathers, friends, neighbors, veterans, disabled and injured, young and old. Our citizenry, our community desperately needs to address the heroin epidemic in a coherent, responsible and compassionate way. People are people. Let's help each other. Additionally, if you do support this, let your voice be heard for those who right now are voiceless, the ones whose lives depend on it.

This is something that is desperately needed in this city. Drugs are taking the city over. Just in the past year the deaths have run rapped. I am praying this passes.
