REGULATION OF AIRBOATS ON GUNTERSVILLE LAKE

I’ve never been more passionate about any issue. These boats have got to go.

Just watched an airboat cruise within 10 feet of our campground's shoreline and boat slips, blowing the covers off the back of several boats. If people can't regulate themselves...

We have been hearing these boats at 4am and at 10pm. Very loud and disturbing.

Use of loud air boats are a terrible disturbance of the peace in the middle of the night.

Boats made it impossible to sleep well at the state park campground and woke my frightened three year old!

I just can't believe this is allowed on our lake- the noise level would make anyone deaf, and even my 99 yr old grandpa who lives with us can hear it. It's horrible and when we are on our boat in the evening the lights are so bright that we can't see where we are going.

June 12 2021 after dark to past 2:30am on June 13th a series of airboats disturbed the peace up and down the properties along Buck Island making sleep impossible.

This applies to Marshall Co / Guntersville as well. I have two young children. We have been woken many times between 11pm and 2am on working / school nights. They get very close to our shore line without any consideration for sleeping residents.

We live in in The Reserve subdivision in Guntersville and can attest to this problem. Our whole house has been woken up on many separate occasions by these boats, often times during the workweek. If you haven't experienced them, just imagine a helicopter landing in your backyard at midnight and you get the point. There are thousands of miles of shoreline on our beautiful lake. I hope that these boats can be restricted to be kept a thousand yards from all residential shoreline at night. They are extremely loud and disruptive to those of us living on the water.

These air boat operate late at night and early in the morning waking all and terrorizing young children. It is hard to conceive of a more egregious public nuisance.

I really wish they weren’t allowed on the lake. Besides the noise they are very rude and don’t follow the rules of the boaters handbook most of the time. Same with jet skis.

To many house’s for airboats to be in this area. All day and all night very loud. Water is all around me so I get it from all sides. This needs to stop.

We live in Point of Pines. A quiet area with mostly retirees and fisherman. The noise from these boats is deafening and we would love to see them banned from our area!

I live on willow beach road in guntersville. The air boats and bright lights reflecting into our windows and noise keep everyone that are not hearing impaired up between 11pm and 3 am. If anyone else pulled up in a regular boat pulled between 2 boathouses in a residential neighborhood and was blasting music to same level at 10 pm those would have law called on them for disturbing the peace. But they are bowfishing. Ummm. A potato gun aiming at long range towards the exact same prey may fix issue of self centered loud bow fish hunters. Not everyone will kill the prey they are fishing for but might only by miss scare them away late at night. Everyone can aim at same fish as loud fisherman. Dont complain.. Go fish in non residential areas outside city limits like duck hunters are required to do.

We have always enjoyed going to Guntersville Lake but the last 3 time we went the fun stops at night you can sleep for the noise and lights from the air boats...what a sham everyone can't share the lake in peace

I live 'near, but not on the lake'. The noise from airboats from 10 p.m. - 3 a.m. is just horrible, even a very long ways away from the lakefront. A public lake does Not grant anyone the right to be obnoxious to others, while they enjoy their sport. There needs to be enforced volume limits, night time activity limits in areas that are occupied by homeowners, and serious fines for those who dump their dead fish someplace that will publically smell horrendous for a week or more. If the bowfishermen that are Responsible sportsmen don't step up and help put limits on this sport, then it will be left to those who live on the lake to do so. 'Just move away from the lake' isn't the way to deal with complaining homeowners! Nor is cussing sites such as this, but it does show what rude people 'some' airboat owners can be. Homeowners on the lake likely pay a whole Lot more in property taxes than the airboats generate in gas taxes and occasional cabin rentals - so that's another poor argument for unregulated airboats. Please Limit the noise levels from nighttime bowfishing on Lake Guntersville!

Get them off public waterways

I live very close to the lake but not on shoreline and the boats are just hot rod engines running strait off the crankshaft and headers! No mufflers?
