Regulate Fireworks

I totally agree with this. I've heard fireworks in central city all weekend, even last nite. I totally think that some regulation should be enforced.

On New Year's Eve, in our normally quiet neighbourhood, fireworks were still going off at 2am in the morning!! Totally unacceptable. Also, during the year, at almost every special occasion - even Halloween - they are prevalent. Used to be only May 24th, July 1st and New Year's Eve!

Consideration should be given to location for certain fireworks also. In densely populated neighbourhoods, the risk of fire is a real issue.

I'm very lucky to have a dog that isn't bothered by fire works. However, in my neighborhood they begin at 6pm and continue till 2am to 4am & for days after; you think you're in war zone with the amount of fire works going off. After the celebrations I have a yard of debris to pick up. There should be a ban on backyard fireworks!!!

Residential fireworks should be banned entirely! They can be extremely dangerous. For anyone To have to put up with fireworks from 6:00 to 3:00a.m. is unreasonable, but especially for people with anxiety disorders & a lot of stressed out pets that require medication to get through the event. There should be a time restriction & only have the fireworks on NYE & Canada Day!

Fireworks regulations are much needed in St. John's. They should be limited to one night only, and within a specific time frame. In my neighbourhood, we can hear New Year's Eve fireworks from nearby areas, starting around 5:00pm and continuing on and off throughout the night, until 12:00 or 1:00am. And then there are the random New Year's Day fireworks that can happen anytime after sundown. Regulating fireworks is not an unreasonable request. And for those who are in various states of distress from fireworks (animals and humans), regulations would at least limit the length of time they are under such stress.

Fireworks started 6:30 New Year's Eve and went til 12:30...I have two senior dogs that shake, cower and jump at each pop, no matter how loud I have the tv...not saying no fireworks, just not for 6 hours. Then it started again on New Year's Day...

Regulations should definitely be looked at. Having fireworks go off from 3 pm - 3 am, a full 12 hours is unacceptable, especially in residential areas. Humans and pets that have anxiety and PTSD are suffering. They should NOT be banned completely because they're part of celebrations but the regulations should definitely be looked into.

Not only are unrestricted fireworks use hard on our pets, it is also a fire hazard when they are set off in backyards where the debris often falls on neighbouring rooftops and yards.

Fireworks should be permitted during specified times (for ex. 7-8 for younger kids and 11:30-12:30 for everyone else) for one night only. They are disruptive and leave debris on other people's property.

Some guidelines on imposing time frames, at the very least.

I agree that it should be regulated, my dog when he was alive would be stressed from all the fireworks happening around New Years.

Regulations long overdue

Fireworks from 6 pm to 1 am is too much. Should not be allowed in residential areas.

Regulations need to be put in place for firework use in residential areas. Not only is this stressful on humans and pets, it is also a safety hazard in residential areas.

I agree fireworks should be limited at least to a particular timeframe, perhaps 7-8 pm in winter celebrations or 10-11pm for summer celebrations. I do not own a dog right now, but fireworks are stressful for dogs, seniors & many anxiety sufferers. At least if it were limited to a particular timeframe, so you could prepare better it would be easier to deal with. Or ban them all together!!
