Regulate Fireworks

I agree with This petition wholeheartedly. It has gotten out of control to the point where people are setting off fireworks in residential areas whenever the mood arises. Along with pets and people, it will only be a matter of time before someones haphazard use of these explosive devices in close proximity to neighbouring houses causes damage or injury. We need regulations on these things.

Fireworks in some areas of our city start the week before New Years Eve,and don't end until Jan fourth,or until all they possess are all used up.Very dangerous especially in the older parts of the city.

Thanks to CSJ we had to endure fireworks twice in my neighborhood when the NYE fireworks moved to NYD.

Regulations are definitely required.

Fireworks should only be from 11pm to 1 am and pet owners should not leave them alone.

My dog is terrified of fireworks. I support a total ban but know that isn't likely. Keep it to 12:00 on New Year's Eve and only town fireworks on Canada Day. Why do people need these hokey backyard fireworks anyway.

Bad for pets, environment etc. Should be banned. In the West end of city they are going every night during the summer and garbage left in parks.

Yes I agree they should only be allowed on specific set holidays and set hours probably between 8-1am that's early enough for kids, late enough for adults and to get them all set off if starting at midnight and pet owners can plan to take their pets out to pee etc before and after they start and not have to worry about unexpected fireworks not in those hours! Thank you!

This issue needs to be dealt with! The fireworks going off at all hours & over several days made it very difficult with a young baby but I felt particularly terrible for all of the pets around us.

I think fireworks should be more closely regulated. They started Christmas eve in our area. Also, people set them off over wooded areas. I am tired of picking up the remnants of fireworks on my property. The fireworks have a huge impact on our dogs and our family. New Years Eve they started at 5 pm and continued until 1230 am. There were more on the evening of New Years Day as well as July 1st. Oftentimes intoxicated people are setting them off. Regulations need to be put in place and followed up on.

This year was the worst & loudest ever, from every direction around me, from 7:15 til 2:30am, and 2 nights following, absolutely awful, I have issues with them as do my pets. Drinking and fireworks are a recipe for disaster. Time for regulations, or an outright ban, however that requires vision, which is somewhat lacking from Council. If they can ban fires on Guy Fawkes night, they can ban fireworks.

Way too many fireworks and the amount of time having my dog shivering and terrified is heartbreaking. There should be certain times fireworks are allowed. This New Years there were fireworks around my neighbourhood for 3 nights in a row. Please people have some compassion!!!! Very frustrated:(

Lovs this idea! No one will ever agree to ban them, but I'm always worried about the animals. This would help a lot!

Fireworks started in our neighbourhood of Cowan Heights at 6:30 this year and went on periodically until 1:00 a.m. Our two dogs were traumatized the whole evening. While I agree with fireworks I also feel others are entitled to enjoy celebrations without having to spend the evening on edge not knowing when our pets will be terrified again in their own home.
